State police file first criminal charges in video poker raids &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Officials have said that more than 40 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; people will face charges in regard to the gaming devicesWILKES-BARRE -- The
first criminal charges resulting from raids on businesses accused of paying
off on video poker machines were filed Friday in the office of two district
justices. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement charged Dwight Allen
Kneal, 48, a bartender at the Shalimar in Wright Township, with two counts of
gambling. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Kneal paid an undercover bureau officer $30 when he cashed in 140 credits
he had tallied on a video poker machine in the Shalimar on Oct. 26, according
to a police affidavit of probable cause filed at the office of District
Justice Ronald W. Swank, Wright Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Attempts to contact Kneal were unsuccessful. Paula Abrantes, in whose name
the Shalimar is licensed, declined to comment on the charges. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A spokeswoman for District Justice Joseph Halesey, Hanover Township, said
the bureau filed charges in the township against one or more employees of
Kazuko's Restaurant. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The affidavit of probable cause in that case was not released because
Halesey had yet to sign it. It will be released Monday, the spokeswoman said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A source said that on Monday the bureau will charge at least three more
people with gambling. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Conviction on gambling charges can bring a maximum sentence of five years
in prison and a $10,000 fine. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Earlier in the month, the bureau said that more than 40 people would face
gambling charges stemming from its Jan. 7 raids on 34 Luzerne County
establishments holding liquor licenses. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 About 119 video poker machines were confiscated in Luzerne County. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Troopers from the Wyoming Barracks, officers from the state police
Organized Crime Unit, Northeast, and the Internal Revenue Service Criminal
Investigation Division in Scranton participated in the raids. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Federal charges are expected to result from the raids. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
