 I just read the article in SAYSO concerning the bad publicity at Dallas
High &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; School. The problem lies not only with ... the administration in general.
The kids are allowed to dress and act like idiots, the girls wear that
horrible makeup and dress punky, the guys dress like they're cleaning out
their gargage. Get busy, show more discipline and get the kids in line. You're
all afraid of the kids. You get big bucks, start learning. You are all kids
and staff alike, the laughing stock of the Back Mountain. Shame on you! &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm calling regarding the murder of Bill Cosby's son. Not too long ago, one
of the tabloid TV shows revealed that Bill Cosby gave a considerable amount of
money to O.J. Simpson's legal defense fund. Bill Cosby gave this money to
defend a man charged with murdering Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown. Not to sound
callous, but isn't it ironic that now Bill Cosby is feeling the same anguish
that Fred Goldman and Lou and Juditha Brown are feeling? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yeah, I'm calling about the Paula Jones, President Clinton thing. I think
this is a lot of baloney. Why the heck, why don't they get back to basics and
do what's supposed to be done, instead of having a sexual harassment. It's
just a political thing and they should wise the hell up and get on with it,
instead of having all this here gosh darn baloney that's going on. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I agree with the person that called about the handicapped parking, and I
would also like to add that they should have the handicapped person be behind
the wheel driving the car. And for the Wilkes-Barre police, I would like to
let them know that there are no handicapped parking spots in the doughnut
shops. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yes, this is the second time I'm calling now for the potholes on Laflin
Road. I'm a resident of Laflin and half of the road is paved and half is
terrible near the railroad tracks. The potholes are so bad that I got a flat
the other day. I wish someone would take care of this. I don't know if it's
Jenkins Township side, but I know Laflin paved their side. So I think it's
Jenkins Township on the way to Wesley Village. Please put it in the paper so
someone could take care of it. They're craters, not potholes. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The sportsmen in Luzerne County should be up in arms over the fact they've
had no one on the State Game Commission to represent them for ... months,
thanks to Tom Ridge. Instead of picking someone from this area that had the
support of sportsmen, Ridge chose a carpetbagger from Montgomery County as a
payback ... for ... large campaign contributions. The sportsmen were lied to
again. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Editor's note: A July 26 column by The Times Leader outdoors writer George
Smith quoted Ridge's Game Commission nominee Angelo Mazzanti as saying he
contributed nothing to Ridge's campaign. The governor's 15-member Sportsmen's
Advisory Council recommended Mazzanti, from Springville in Wyoming County, to
be the northeast representative on the Game Commission. The state Senate is
expected to soon act on the nomination. Mazzanti lived in Montgomery County
most of his life, purchasing property in Wyoming County in 1989. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Do you think LCCC is the only place of employment that has wrongful
discrimination? No. At (company name deleted) the only ones who are sure of
their job security are the ones who talk comfortably to the boss about what
color underwear the boss has on. Please note, this is the only thing you need
from me for having my SAYSO. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Hi, I'm calling in regards to the article on page 2, Tuesday (Jan. 14)
about the homeless man, and they were seeking him. I read your headline, and I
was not aware that tents were able to see. I didn't know they had eyes. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Editor's note: The headline: "Searchers seek homeless man last seen by
makeshift tent." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm calling to complain about the Dallas schools. If they're going to give
the kids a delay on a cold, snowy day, why can't they at least plow the roads
and take care of them? They're snow covered, and they're slippery. I'm a
parent, and I slid twice myself. The high school gives detention if they're
late, and their kids are driving way too fast on these roads. Does anyone else
agree on this? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There seems to be almost daily articles in the Times Leader about the
Dallas School District for the current school year. I can't recall where one
district has had as many discipline problems reported in the newspaper. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 This school year the high school started the new intensified schedule
method. I was at a number of the meetings and although there's no firm
benefits of intensified scheduling mentioned, the board adopted it anyway over
the objections of the teachers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 One of the few benefits that was proposed was that there would be fewer
discipline problems. That certainly does not seem to be the case. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The administration can't control the school as evidenced by the published
discipline problems. The school board can't make up its mind on the placement
of the new building. The administration can't handle the problems, as
evidenced by the mercury spill cleanup. The district is out of control and
needs someone to step in and take control and get things in order. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Your editorial was tremendous concerning Social Security. Whatever happened
to all the funds that the government has robbed to reduce the deficit for Star
Wars and NASA and all the rest of the programs, and defense? All the I.O.U.'s
that are sitting in the coffers of the Social Security program have been
robbed. The people are being deluded into thinking that Social Security is
really broke. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It never should have been broke. There was plenty of money in there ...
plenty of money that was invested and put into trust into government bonds ...
We paid, yes, we paid, we senior citizens, we paid. I paid all my life, and to
say that, now they're going to put into something else. It's amazing. Stock
market! It's a shame. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I just switched to Channel 16 television, to get away from that stupid
telepoll on Channel 28. I can't believe people would pay to give an opinion
about some matters. Who cares? ... Now if Channel 16 would only dump that
moronic weatherman, they would be a perfect news station. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm calling about Mayor McGroarty and his spokesperson, Shannon McNulty. It
seems no matter what they talk about, they never give you the full details,
and then they have an explanation about it in the newspaper. Why don't they
tell everything as it is? For instance, about the skating, which was not free
for children, and the dropping of that stupid piece of coal that came down in
Wilkes-Barre. Then they explain in the paper, taxpayers have to pay for it,
and children from Wilkes-Barre are admitted free. Let them tell things as they
are from the beginning. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If I'm offered a lemonade, hah, no thanks. I prefer the name change to
melonade, and then maybe, hah. Well, I'm for changes. You can change your name
too, The Leader Times. Well, that's what it is! I like The Times Leader.
Anymore homes for sale or cars for sale? Hah? Well, this paper is the best.
You're The Leader; that's the name all right. Thank you very much for the
news, and I hope we can get that lemonade thing cleaned up in a hurry. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I may have missed it, but I don't see any article in the paper about the
prison escape from the Pittsburgh prison. It was a state prison. It was on all
the news. How come you don't report it? You can report about the guards who
raped the other guard, but it seems to me, you know, anything about the
guards. Governor Ridge closed the towers in all the state prisons for a good
bit of the time, and here's this huge escape where they tunneled 30 foot and
you don't even report it. It might be of interest to some of the people that
live out in Jackson Township. I think there's a problem with this paper,
there's some important things going on in the world, and you don't even report
it. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Editor's note: We published stories on the escape and the subsequent
captures. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 My husband is a delivery man in Wyoming Valley, and he has to deliver to
Bear Creek Village Borough, and he says that those roads up there are the
worst that he has ever seen anywhere. Why don't they fix them or put cinders
on them? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm calling in reference to the full-time 911 Public Awareness Specialist
position that was created and filled by the Luzerne County Commissioners. This
is just a fine example of how easy it is to spend someone else's money, why
there is a need for tax increase in Luzerne County. Instead of saving the
$18,000 for the position that was going to be eliminated, they've added an
additional $6,000 to the budget for a position that other counties and larger
counties consider a luxury. I guess it's not a luxury for those with
county-provided, high-priced cars and sport utility vehicles and cellular
phones. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It's also very convenient how they created the position and filled it the
same night, before anyone could comment on it. And how long will people put up
with something like this? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I would just like to say that I agree with Mayor McGroarty's decision to
only let Wilkes-Barre residents have the free skate. We pay 3 percent city
tax. Everyone else only pays one and one and a half. So we should get the free
stuff, and the other towns should not get free stuff. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
