 On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Marians of Council #8598 will hold their annul
installation of officers at 6:30 p.m. at St. John's Church, Schooley Avenue,
Exeter. A Benediction will be given by the Rev. Daniel Hitchko. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Officers to be installed include: Sandy Smith, president; Ann Marie Walsh,
vice president; Lidi Elko, secretary; Fran Lisewski, treasurer; Doreen Keeler,
financial secretary. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Refreshments will be served and all members and guests are urged to attend. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Residents of the Municipality of Kingston are reminded that snow and ice
must be removed from any sidewalk within 12 hours after snowfall. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Also, snow or ice should not be shoveled or blown onto any street or
highway. Violators can face a fine up to $300. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Catholic Schools Week &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Today through Feb. 1, Bishop O'Reilly High School, Kingston, will observe
Catholic Schools Week. This year's theme is "Catholic Schools: Schools You Can
Believe In." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The week-long celebration will include a special Liturgy celebrated by the
Rev. Michael Kloton, director of religious formation at the school. In
addition Mayor Gary Reese will be on hand to proclaim "Catholic Schools Week
in Kingston." There will also be a Student Appreciation Day and Faculty
Administration Day. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Sacred Heart School in Luzerne will observe Catholic Schools Week today

 The following activities will be held: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Sunday, Jan. 26 -- 11 a.m. Liturgy, St. Ann's Church, Luzerne; open house
from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school. Registration for pre-school,
kindergarten and new students grades 1-5 will be taken. Baptism and birth
certificates, immunization records along with the registration fee must be
presented. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Monday, Jan. 27 -- Students will honor their Grandparents at lunch and a
tour of the school. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Tuesday, Jan. 28 -- Volunteers will be honored with a special brunch and
certificate of appreciation. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wednesday, Jan. 29 -- Parents and National Appreciation Day for Catholic
Schools will be celebrated. Parents will join students in a Prayer Service in
which each parent will be gifted with a treasure. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Thursday, Jan. 30 -- Student Appreciation Day will include a Dress Down
Day, Crazy Hat Day, no homework, a favorite video and a treat from the
Home-School Association. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friday, Jan. 31 -- Catholic Schools' Week will culminate with Staff
Appreciation Day in which all staff members will be treated to a delicious
brunch by the Home-School Association. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 During the entire week, students in all grades will take part in various
competitions. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

served. An Academic Bowl will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. for grades 3-5 in

 Wednesday, Jan. 29 -- Kindergarten and New Student Registration: New
students entering K through 8th grade can register for the 1997-98 school year
between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 7 and 8 p.m. in the Main Office. An Open House
will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Thursday, Jan. 30 -- Teacher Appreciation Day: Faculty and staff will enjoy
a luncheon courtesy of the PTG; 10 a.m. Academic Bowl, Parents vs. 6th-8th

 Disability Awareness is the topic for the next meeting of the Learning
Disabilities Association of Luzerne. The session will be held at 7 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 27 in Room A105 of the Advanced Technology Center at Luzerne
County Community College &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Cynthia Donlan, vice president of Learning Disabilities Association of
Luzerne County, will introduce a new Disability Awareness Curriculum developed
by the Leadership Hazleton class of 1995-96 for elementary age children. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Story Hour will be held 6:30 p.m., Mondays for ages 3-5; 10:15 a.m. and
12:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday for ages 4 and 5. The Kids Hour will be held

 $1000 scholarships &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 For the first time, the White Haven Lion's Club will award two $1,000
scholarships to students who are planning to attend an institution of higher
learning. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Any student who resides in the 443 telephone exchange and is planning to
attend a college, junior college, community college or technical school,
granting a minimum two-year degree program, is eligible. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Applicants will be chosen based on academic achievement, participation in
extracurricular activities and a written essay. Applications can be obtained
