Rosemary J. Durning has been promoted to lieutenant colonel with the U.S.
Air &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Force Reserve. Durning is a nurse manager at Wright-Patterson Air Force
Base, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dayton, Ohio. She is the daughter of Nellie J. Mlynek, Wethersfield, Conn., &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 and sister of John M. Mlynek, Rocky Hill, Conn. Her husband, James, is the
son of Veronica M. Durning, Wilkes-Barre. The colonel is a 1973 graduate of &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wethersfield High School, and a 1977 graduate of the University of &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Connecticut, StorrsU.S. Army Reserve Pvt. Joshua T. Sutton has graduated
from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo. During the
training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map
reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and U.S.
Army history and traditions. Sutton, son of Susan Sutton, RR 3, Hunlock Creek,
Hunlock Township, is a 1995 graduate of West Side Area Vocational-Technical
High School, Pringle. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. Air Force Airman Martin J. Evans Jr. has graduated from basic military
training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks
of training, the airman studied the U.S. Air Force mission, organization, and
customs and received special training in human relations. Evans, son of Martin
J. Evans, Lapark, and Suzanne M. Evans, Ashley, is a 1996 graduate of Hanover
Area High School, Hanover Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. Army Pvt. Tomas R. Garcia has graduated from the heavy-wheel vehicle
mechanic course at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the course, students
were instructed to perform maintenance and assist in the repair of heavy duty
vehicles and associated equipment. Garcia is the son of Tomas Garcia,
Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. Army National Guard Pvt. Robert D. Barber has graduated from the
cannon fire direction specialist course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Students
were instructed how to operate and maintain a digital automated computer for
field artillery and a cannon fire direction center with the purpose of
compiling target lists. Barber, son of Donna Barber, Kingston, is a 1995
graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Kingston. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. Army National Guard Pfc. Edward A. Stancavage has graduated from the
field artillery surveyor course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. During the course,
students were taught mathematics, map reading and the operation of survey
equipment. Stancavage, son of Tom and Maryanne Lostrick, Exeter, is a 1996
graduate of Wyoming Area High School, Exeter. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Former first sergeant Robert G. Scanlon was award the Meritorious Service
Medal while serving with the 348th General Hospital (HUM), Ashley. The award
was presented to Scanlon by Captain Michael A. Tengowski. Recommendation for
this award came from Lt. Gen. Geno J. Merli, commander of the 348th General
Hospital (HUM). &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. Army Spec. Steven A. Toslin has arrived for duty at Suwon Air Base,
Suwon City, South Korea. Toslin, a light wheel vehicle mechanic, is the son of
Sandra L. Toslin, West Pittston, and James L. Toslin, Exeter. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. Army Pfc. Melissa Shopeck has arrived for duty at Fort George G.
Meade, Laurel, Md. Shopeck, a military police specialist, is the daughter of
Walter G. and Joan M. Shopeck, Larksville. She is a 1994 graduate of Wyoming
Valley West High School, Plymouth. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

nephew of Walter Rynkewicz, Nanticoke~. His wife, Patricia, is the daughter of
Patrick L. Thies, Williamsville, N.Y., and Earla C. Thies, Buffalo, N.Y.
Rynkewicz is a 1966 graduate of Burgard Vocational High School, Buffalo, N.Y.,
and a 1988 graduate of the University of Buffalo, Amherst, N.Y. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. Air Force Airman Lisa Romanoski has graduated from the security
apprentice course at the Air Force Security Police Academy, Lackland Air Force
Base, San Antonio, Texas. Romanoski is the daughter of Caroline and
stepdaughter of Michael Youells of Wilkes-Barre. She is a 1991 graduate of
Elmer L. Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. Air Force Reserve Capt. David C. Post has graduated from the 13-month
Advanced Study of Air Mobility program at the Air Mobility Warfare Center,
Fort Dix, Trenton, N.J. The program provides a select group of Air Force
officers with an in-depth education in transportation logistics. Post, son of
Vivian C. Post, Kingston, is a 1982 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High
School, Plymouth, and a 1986 graduate of the former Wilkes College,
Wilkes-Barre. He received a master's degree in 1996 from the Air Force
Institute of Technology, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. Army Cpl. Barry W. Belles Jr. has graduated from the U.S. Army Primary
Leadership Development Course at Fort Drum, Watertown, N.Y. Belles, son of
Barbara Kershner, Wilkes-Barre, received training in supervisory skills,
leadership principles, and small unit training techniques essential to a
first-line supervisor in a technical or administrative environment. Belles
graduated in 1992 from Elmer L. Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre, and is a
