 Yes, I'm reading in your paper ... ``Convicted mass killer Banks wants a
new trial.'' Isn't that a sin? I mean, my God, come on now. In 1983 is when he
was found guilty ... he had five children, eight others were dead. He killed
all those people on September 25th. My heavens! And he wants a new trial. I
can't understand why that man, he was found guilty, was not already hung. Why
his life wasn't taken away from him the way he took those little innocent
children. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Editor's note: Several callers protested a new trial for Banks. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm calling in regards to Luzerne County government. The County
Commissioners, it seems like it's all in one family, all working together.
Where is the watchdogs in Luzerne County? This is the worst administration I
think we've seen in the last 20 years. And I would like to add, as far as the
Cherokee Jeeps and the Broncos, where does the chief clerk and the
superintendent of building and grounds and others, the recycling director, why
do they need $40,000 vehicles with telephones? I can't afford it! I'm sick and
tired of paying for it, and one of these days, the dome is going to fall down
on all these guys. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Your editorial about the Paula Jones case was wrong. I could cry about what
she and others are doing to the president. He is the first president in years
who really cares about us. We need him, the world needs him. Let he who is
without sin, throw the first stone. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Bear Creek Village roads are supported by taxes. They are the most
dangerous roads in the whole area. Just come up and see the icy roads. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yeah, I'm calling in regards to the fine article you did (recently) on
George Curry and his Berwick Bulldogs. ... And my hat's off to George and his
assistants down there and all his kids that did a great job, and always did.
But in that article you stated that he spent two seasons at Lake-Lehman, where
I actually believe that he spent four seasons at Lake-Lehman, 1967, 68, 69 and
70. And he lost the first game he coached there to Wyalusing, in the fall of
67, 20-19; he lost the last game he coached there to Dallas, Thanksgiving, in
1970, 24-14; and he had a fine record of about 25 wins and 14 losses and one
tie, or so, as far as I can ascertain. Just wanted to straighten it out. I do
believe, I got my source out of the yearbooks, Lake-Lehman yearbooks. OK,
thanks a lot. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Editor's note: Curry coached three years at Lake-Lehman 1968-70 with a
23-10-1 record. His career record is at 299-61-5. He is the all-time
winningest coach in Pennsylvania history, surpassing Mount Carmel's Joe "Jazz"

Allison Walzer draw a comparison between her Sunday, Jan. 12th editorial and
Wyoming Valley Health Care System. I couldn't have stated this comment better.
I tried fighting health care system and one little person by himself is
hopeless. If Times Leader is looking for a project, this could be it. If I
hear of any study, I will be first in line with my documentation. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yes, hi SAYSO. I can only say, what could you expect with this Duffy case,
except exactly what happened. You knew darn well that it wouldn't go anyplace,
you knew this thing against Cappellini wouldn't go anyplace. You've got to
look at where it's going to, who's being charged and what the outcome will
eventually will be. It has already been written in stone. And the people here
in Luzerne County, they should be well aware of what's going to happen, when
anybody in the know or in control of situations, you already know what's going
to happen. It will never get changed, not unless you get people in there to
change it. And the people that are in control right now, it's not even a slap
on the wrist or a slap on the hand anymore, it's just a smile. And say, what
can you expect of our Luzerne County public officials. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Hey, when Cappellini was tested positive, they didn't detain him for 48 or
78 hours. They didn't arrest him or put him in detention. What rights, what
does the man do? Anybody else, if they don't have the pull him and his old man
have, they get thrown in the clinker. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Whether you believe O.J. Simpson is guilty of murder or not, he was
acquitted of the crimes. My question is, can anybody give me a quick legal
summary on how you can be tried for wrongful death, after being acquitted of
such crimes? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Editor's note: The standard of proof to win money in a civil case is not as
strict as the "beyond a reasonable doubt" standard of a criminal case. So, a
person can be found not guilty based on "reasonable doubt" and still be proven
responsible enough for a crime to have to pay money to victims. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 This Duffy case is a miscarriage of justice. All of our civil rights are
being violated in the fact that we are denied real justice in this county and
in this state of Pennsylvania. I am so goddammed disgusted, I'm going to move
my family out of this state, out of this area, and out of this state
completely. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm always amazed to see how quickly the Back Mountain citizens will rise
up when someone dare touch the Athletic Sacred Cow. It's just too bad that the
Back Mountain citizenry can't rise up equally as fast about academics. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I am appalled by your article about the young boy who received an 800 on
the SAT verbal section. You make it appear that only students from MMI can
receive a perfect score of 800 on the verbal. When as in the past many
students at Wyoming Seminary have achieved perfect scores in verbal and math
in the past few years. I am sure that there are other schools such as Wyoming
Valley West and Bishop O'Reilly who have similar students who have wonderful
scores on the SATs. An 800 is not the most important thing in this world and
you make it appear as, oh, this kid is so wonderful because he has an 800.
Well, what else does he do? Does he do community service? Is he involved in
extra-curricular activities? I bet he isn't. I bet all he does is study for
his SATs. We're looking for a more well-rounded student, and that's what's
important, well-rounded, not just an 800 on the verbal. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If you call someone, and you dial wrong, and get a wrong number, please
respond and say you're sorry or just say you have the wrong number. But,
please, please, don't just say nothing and hang. Please, it scares the
receiver of the phone call. Please, if you have a wrong number, just say you
have a wrong number, please. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
