Irene Munson &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 January 29, 1997 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Irene S. Munson of Arbor Road, Lancaster, formerly of Wyoming, died
Wednesday at her homeBorn in Soldier, she was the daughter of the late Robert
and Ellen Riely Sloan. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She resided in Wyoming since 1941, moving to Lancaster in 1983. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She graduated from Reynoldsville High School, Jefferson County, and Clarion
University and Syracuse University. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Before retiring in 1975, she was employed for many years as a special
education teacher by the Luzerne County Intermediate Unit. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Lancaster; the
Pennsylvania Teachers Association; the Iris Club of Lancaster. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was active in the Girl Scouts, serving as leader of Wyoming Troop 32
for many years. She was also active in the Wyoming Women's Club. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Nels, in 1967. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are daughters, Barbara Benchoff, Fort Belvior, Va.; Beverly
Swift, White Plains, N.Y.; a son, Robert J., with whom she resided; six
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Metcalfe &amp; Shaver
Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Rev. Joseph C. Streit,
Chaplain of Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, officiating. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good
Drive, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, 17604. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
