young people &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 On behalf of the Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals (SPCA) of
Luzerne County, I wish to express our heartfelt thanks to Noreen Amesbury and
the Dallas Middle School Student Council for the recent donation of food and
supplies they collected during their annual food drive for the animals
sheltered in our facility on Fox-Hill Road, Plains Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; An entire van full of food was picked up at the school on January 16. All
who participated in the collection are truly outstanding and dedicated to
helping those in need. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It is very refreshing to know that our youth are attentive to the needs and
plight of homeless animals and are receiving guidance which is helping develop
our future leaders. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The SPCA is constantly in need of such generosity. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Once again I had to journey down that road to the short-stay unit at
General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Dr. Lewis Blaum performed and his staff did very impressive work. The
nurses at the unit were very cordial and hospitable and made me feel at home. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I would like to thank my optician, Toni Edmundson of Vision Associates in
Pittston, for taking me to the hospital and staying with me for moral support.
She, indeed, is my right arm. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I also thank another very special person, June M. Hurley, who takes me for
my cancer treatments to Dr. David W. Greenwald. His staff is superb and cannot
do enough for you. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Last, but not least, I would like to thank my four daughters -- Patricia,
Catherine, Mary Lou and Noreen -- without whose prayers and support, I would
be another statistic. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Another person I would like to thank is Clifford "Sarge" Wall, who is
always there when I need him. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I feel like an octopus with all these right arms, but I am awfully glad I
have them. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 I am grateful to the person who radioed the police for me. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I thank the five great guys from McCarthy Tire -- one who requested that I
be given help; another three who pushed my car off the highway, allowed me to
use the phone, and offered me coffee; and another man who drove me back to my
car. I also thank the patrolman who checked on me. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

public about our recent performances of "The Nutcracker." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Especially gratifying was Ms. Biebel's eloquent article about the joyous
anticipation and personal commitment made by our teenaged dancers for this
