It's going down to the wire for WVC teams in playoff hunt &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The high school boys basketball regular season is 10 days from completion, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; barring foul weatherLast chance to get invited to the District 2 playoff
dance. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There are three games left in the Wyoming Valley Conference and Northeast
Athletic Conference, four games remaining in the Lackawanna League. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Several teams already have secured a playoff invitation -- Hazleton Area,
Coughlin, Williamsport and Honesdale in Class AAAA; Valley View, Wallenpaupack
and Western Wayne in AAA; Scranton Prep and Montrose in AA; Northwest Area,
Bishop O'Reilly, Bishop Hafey, Bishop O'Hara, Carbondale Sacred Heart and Blue
Ridge in A. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The lives of many WVC teams, however, hinge on their play down the stretch. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Conference champions, regardless of overall league records, are
automatically in the playoffs as a top seed. If there are two league champions
in the same class, winning percentage will determine the seedings. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Once conference winners have been seeded, the seedings for the remaining
playoff teams will be determined by winning percentage. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The District 2 boys tournament is set to begin on Thursday, Feb. 20. The
finals are Friday, Feb. 28. The first round of the PIAA tournament is Friday
and Saturday, March 7-8. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Here's a look at the current playoff situation in all four classifications. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Hazleton Area (14-0) and Coughlin (11-3) have two of the three WVC spots.
Pittston Area has a one-game lead on Tunkhannock for the third guaranteed
berth, but has games remaining with the Cougars and Crusaders. Tunkhannock
plays Crestwood, Nanticoke and Wyoming Valley West, all of which have losing
records. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Williamsport (13-4) is in as the lone District 4 AAAA team. The
Millionaires needed only a .500 record to qualify. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Honesdale (8-2), Scranton (7-3) and Abington Heights (6-4) are vying for
the two Lackawanna League spots. Even if Honesdale loses its four remaining
regular-season games, it would still be in as a wild-card team. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wyoming Valley West (5-8) and Berwick (4-9) are still alive for the two
wild-card berths. If the Bulldogs lose one of their remaining three games,
they are eliminated from contention for the district's eight-team bracket. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 -- Nanticoke has a one-game lead on Crestwood for the one guaranteed WVC
spot from Division I. Hanover Area is clinging to a one-game advantage over
Wyoming Area for the one assured Division II berth. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Regardless of which team secures the Division I berth, the second-place
team will play the second-place team from Division II for the final WVC berth
in the district tournament. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A play-in game is necessary because the top two Division II teams will
finish with a better record than the second-place team from Division I. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Valley View (10-0) and Wallenpaupack (8-2) are in from the Lackawanna
League. Western Wayne (14-1), the first-half champion in the Northeast
Athletic Conference, has secured the one wild-card berth in the six-team
event. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 -- There are still several possibilities in the WVC. If Meyers (10-3) wins
the Division II title, it would qualify. If GAR wins the Division II crown, it
is in. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If neither Meyers nor GAR win the Division II crown, there will be a
playoff to decide the second WVC spot. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If the Mohawks beat the Grenadiers Feb. 11, they are in the playoffs. If
the Grenadiers lose before the city showdown, the Mohawks are in. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 GAR can assure itself of a play-in game to the playoffs with two victories
in its final three games or one Bishop Hoban loss. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If GAR finishes with a better record than Bishop Hoban, the two will play
for the second WVC spot. If Bishop Hoban has an equal or better record, the
Argents are in without a play-in game. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Scranton Prep (9-1) has the one guaranteed Lackawanna League Southern
Division berth. Mid-Valley (6-4) has a three-game cushion with four games to
play for the one Northern Division spot. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Bishop Hannan (4-6), Dunmore (4-6), Carbondale (3-7) and Lakeland (2-8) are
battling for the third Lackawanna League berth. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Montrose (13-1) has one of the two NAC spots. Elk Lake (9-6) leads
Lackawanna Trail (8-6) for the second berth. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There is one wild-card berth available in the eight-team district tourney
to the team from any of the three leagues with the best winning percentage. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 -- The six-team field is set, though the seedings are not. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Northwest Area (12-1), Bishop O'Reilly (9-4) and Bishop Hafey (8-5) are in
from the WVC, which gets two guaranteed berths. The third team is in as the
wild card for having the best winning percentage of the remaining teams from
the three conferences. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Bishop O'Hara (6-4) is the Lackawanna League representative. Carbondale
Sacred Heart (10-5) and Blue Ridge (8-7) are in from the NAC. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
