WYOMING Council, residents hear about county 911 system &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Representatives of the Luzerne County Emergency Services Department spoke
to council and about 10 residents Wednesday night about Luzerne County's 911 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; systemAt the work session, Albert Gervenack, executive director of the
Emergency Services Department, and David Macekura, technical support manager,
answered questions from council regarding cost and procedure for hooking up to
the emergency system. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Macekura also demonstrated a new alpha-numeric paging system which could
replace the standard radio paging system. Working like a regular beeper, the
alpha-numeric system would alert each individual emergency service employee
with a text message as to the nature and location of the emergency. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Council said it plans to further discuss the 911 system before signing with
the county. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In other business: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 An amendment to the police contract was proposed to begin overtime pay
after the 40th hour worked rather than the original 44th. Council also
discussed the granting of 2 additional vacation days to officers for each year
of employment after 25 years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The police have been working without a contract since January 1996. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
