 REVERSE MORTGAGE SEMINAR: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Fannie Mae, the nation's largest source of home mortgage funds, and U.S.
Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski, D-Nanticoke, have teamed up to offer a free seminar on
reverse mortgages for 11th District residents. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The seminar, which will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Ramada Plaza
Hotel on 20 Public Square in Wilkes-Barre, will provide information on Fannie
Mae's new Home Keeper Mortgage, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development's Home Equity Conversion Mortgage and other types of services for
seniors. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A reverse mortgage allows senior homeowners to convert the equity in their
homes into cash to meet their financial needs and remain independent during
their retirement years. The seminar will provide information on how to qualify
for a reverse mortgage, how much a homeowner can borrow, what the costs are,
and how to determine if a reverse mortgage is the best option. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Area seniors may ride free to the Ramada to attend the seminar by using
Luzerne County Transit Authority. Parking is available at the Ramada. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 DISNEY TO RETAIN MAGAZINES: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 One week after announcing they might be sold, Walt Disney Co. has decided
to keep the fashion magazine W, Los Angeles magazine and Women's Wear Daily. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The company, however, might sell The Times Leader, The Kansas City Star,
the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the other daily newspapers it came to own
through the acquisition of Capital Cities/ABC. On Jan. 29, Disney said it was
looking at possible sales of its publishing operations. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Disney's decision to keep W's parent Fairchild Publications as well as Los
Angeles magazine was confirmed Thursday by Disney spokesman John Dreyer after
it was announced to Fairchild employees. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He said the Fairchild publications and Los Angeles fit with Disney's own
consumer magazines and provides "a base from which we can launch other
consumer publications." Disney's magazines include Disney Adventures, Discover
magazine, Family Fun and Family PC. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 SNAPPLE FUTURE CLOUDY: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Quaker Oats Co.'s plans for its Snapple drinks are still about as clear as
a bottle of mango iced tea. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Snapple once again proved a drag on company profits, but Quaker chairman
William D. Smithburg on Thursday did not address persistent rumors about the
iced tea and fruit-juice drinks line. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Quaker's stock has risen sharply in recent weeks on talk that the company
is shopping Snapple around for a sale and may be forced to throw in Gatorade
as an enticement. Potential suitors are said to be PepsiCo Inc. and Coca-Cola
Co., among others. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Smithburg, after reporting Snapple sales fell 8 percent last year, refused
to comment on the rumors. Instead, he reiterated a series of previously
announced initiatives planned for this year to stop the line from losing
money, as it has done since Quaker bought it for $1.7 billion in late 1994. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ANOTHER CHARITY TO BALTIMORE: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A Lutheran charity has become the latest nonprofit group to relocate to
Baltimore in a move regional planners say builds on a growing community of
nonprofit organizations. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service picked Baltimore over Minneapolis
and Philadelphia. The organization's plan to relocate 64 workers from New York
City is expected to cut costs. Thursday's announcement follows the revelation
last week that Lutheran World Relief would also move to Baltimore. The two
organizations plan to share office space. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Lutheran groups join several recent nonprofits to move to the city.
International Youth Foundation and the Patty Casey Foundation moved to
Baltimore last year, following the celebrated arrival of Catholic Relief
Services. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It's a niche we're targeting -- nonprofits," said Jay Brody, president of
the Baltimore Development Corp. "We see them as dealing with real world
problems and adding to the intellectual life of the community and we're happy
to have them. It's been a focused effort on our part and we're looking for
more." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services is an international organization
established in 1939 to help people who fled Nazi Germany to resettle in the
United States and has grown into one of the largest U.S. refugee settlement
agencies. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
