Bruce Deets February 6, 1997 Bruce E. Deets, 71, of West Fourth Street, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Nescopeck, died Thursday at the Wilkes-Barre General HospitalBorn Dec. 22,
1925 in Slocum Township, he was the son of the late Clarence and Marjorie L.
Myers Deets. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He graduated from the former Newport Township High School in 1943 and
served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was formerly employed by the Zeiser Vault Co., Nescopeck, retiring in
1988, and was later employed by the Berwick Cemetery Association. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Nescopeck, where he
served on the board of trustees, administrative board, and ushers staff. He
was a life member of the Nescopeck Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, and the
Nescopeck Fire Co., where he served as treasurer. He was also a member of the
Berwick Chapter AARP and was a driver with the Nescopeck Ambulance Corps. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He and his wife, the former Betty Young, were married 50 years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are children, Glenn, Berwick; Mrs. Wayne (Gayle) Cardoni,
Webster, N.Y.; Bruce Jr., RR 1, Nescopeck; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Ace, De Land,
Fla.; a brother, Clyde, Bristol; three grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A memorial service will be today at 2 p.m. from the Wesley United Methodist
Church, with the Rev. Brenda Leigey, pastor, officiating. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Private interment will be in Slocum Cemetery. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There will be no calling hours. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Arrangements are by the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
