Don't let state store be replaced by crime and mega-store monopolies &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I don't, never did, work for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, nor do
my children or relatives. Nor have I ever leased or sold property or goods to
the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; PLCBI'm just a consumer averaging two small purchases a year. However, I am
an official Pennsylvania taxpayer and thus feel justified in expressing my
opinion. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The PLCB has conducted a conscientious and scandal-free business over a
span of 66 years. Their retailing outlets do not have any visible flaws; they
are kept mint clean and are easily accessible. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 They are staffed by knowledgeable, considerate and courteous people. Their
marketing is conscientious, with an obligation to do right and be good. Their
pricing structure must be just, for they certainly sell a lot of product.
Notwithstanding, they create huge taxes and profits for the state. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Not to be overlooked, state stores maintain sensible business hours, and
thus in some way exert discipline on drinking problems. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Privatization would create Mom-and-Pop operations or supermarket outlets
open 24 hours a day to maximize profits and minimize expenses; they will be
open to the public seven days a week and undeniably will be a magnet for
crime. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It ain't broke, so don't fix it! &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Let's also give some thought to the thousands of people who will be
adversely affected by this action. I know the government is not in the
business to create jobs, but neither is it in the business to destroy them. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Beware my friends, we heard this song before. It's the same tune sung for
school mergers, bank consolidations, and supermarket acquisitions. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Do you, sincerely, believe that you are better off today in any of these
areas than you were 10 years ago? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In a period of 10 years, more or less, you can bet the ranch on this one:
The privately owned liquor stores will be merged, managed, controlled and in
the hands of the few, the select and the powerful. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Then, my taxpayer friends, the price-fixer and the tax man cometh. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
