 The NBA dunk competition dates back to 1984 when Larry Nance of the Phoenix &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Suns defeated fan favorite Julius Erving. Nance won with a memorable dunk, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 slamming two basketballs at onceSince then the competition has grown to
become the centerpiece of NBA Saturday night, which also features the
all-rookie game and three-point competition. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In tonight's dunkfest, the competitors must attempt at least three dunks in
the first round of the Nestle Crunch Slam Dunk Competition. One overall score
will be awarded by a panel of five judges who will grade dunkers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The three highest-scoring players will advance to the final round. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Slam Dunk Rules &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 1. There are two rounds of competition. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 2. The point total awarded by the judges will be based on creativity,
artistry and athletic ability. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 3. In round one, each player must attempt a minimum of three dunks. One
overall score will be awarded. The maximum number of points that can be earned
will be 50. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 4. Three players advance to the final round. Each player will attempt two
dunks on a rotating basis. The higher the score of the two dunks will be the
only one that counts. The maximum number of points that can be earned will be
50. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 5. Ties in either round will be broken by a one-dunk "dunk-off." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 6. The order of the first round will be determined by draw and the final
round point total. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
