 Let's say you're on "Jeopardy" and- yes, hooray, press that button- you
Know which French artist painted "Liberty Leading the People." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 But- whoops, alas, major faux pas- you mispronounce Eugene Delacroix. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 To avoid lasting shame- plus a chiding look from Alex Trebek- a
husband-and-wife team of art lovers from Drums offers a guide to the correct
pronunciation of the names of 800 artists. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Barbara and Peter Toohil, who met as students at Massachusetts College of
Art, collaborated on the book, "Accents on Artists," hoping that other art
lovers will appreciate the handy guide. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The best way to enjoy the book, Peter Toohil says, is to wander a gallery
or museum, looking up the artist whose work is before you and gleaning some
biographical facts. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 You can learn, for example, that painter and printmaker Suzuki Harunobu's
most famous work is "Young Woman in a Summer Shower," that architect Le
Corbusier designed houses as "machines for living" and that Rosa Bonheur
painted Buffalo Bill Cody. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A companion audiotape, produced at the WVIA-FM studio, features the
pleasant speaking voices of Mary Beth Evans and radio personality Erika Funke. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Evans volunteered to read the names of the American and British artists,
leaving to Funke such tongue-twisters as Dirck Barendsz of the Netherlands and
Katsushika Hokusai of Japan. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Toohils- he's an animator; she designed women's sportswear- saw a need
for the book when they were designing a board game in which players would
answer trivia questions and bid for artwork as at an auction. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 While talking with museum staff about their game proposal, they were
embarrassed to be stumped by names as seemingly simple as George Catlin,
explorer and painter of American Indian portraits. His surname is pronounced
like a feline rather than a girl's name. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Barbara Toohil started to jot down information about artists she'd studied
20 years ago in college, but had forgotten. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It just grew into a book," says Barbara, who admits she enjoyed the 18
months she spent sifting such reference materials as "The Random House
Biographical Dictionary" and "Art of This Century, the Guggenheim Museum and
Its Collection." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The board game is temporarily on hold, but "Accents on Artists" is
available from the Toohils, at 788-1476, and through the Tudor Book Store in
Kingston or the Hazleton Art League. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The cost is $13.95 for the book, $7.95 for the tape. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Accent on Artists" has already been ordered by several museums, including
the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Smithsonian Institution in
Washington, D.C., and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
