New LCCC president's inclusive approach bodes well for school's future &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I am writing in response to your Dec. 19 article regarding the Board of &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Trustees meeting at Luzerne County Community College, held the previous
evening. In that article, I was misquoted concerning the holiday decorations
displayed in the administration building at LCCCAlthough you published a
correction the following day, I would like to take this opportunity to expand
upon your correction. Unlike prior years in which the lobby of our
administration building displayed only Christmas decorations, it is now
adorned with symbols of both the Christian and Jewish faiths. Furthermore,
decorations celebrating the African American holiday of Kwanzaa are also
visible. Other buildings on campus display these symbols as well. In future
years, I expect that the traditions of other groups will be honored. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The recognition of the importance of a variety of traditions both on our
campus and in our consciousness is the result of an initiative taken by our
new president, Dr. Jon Larson. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The members of the Diversity/Equity Partnership at LCCC view Dr. Larson's
efforts as an indication of his commitment to the creation of an inclusive
environment at LCCC in which all students, faculty and staff will be treated
equitably and with respect regardless of their race, gender, religion, age,
sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, learning or physical abilities. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In the few short weeks since he assumed the presidency of LCCC, Dr. Larson
has demonstrated not only his vision, but also his ability to take action. The
members of the Diversity/Equity Partnership believe strongly that under the
leadership of Dr. Larson, LCCC will provide the type of environment in which
individuals from all backgrounds can achieve their full potential. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
