Grateful to community for honoring memory of late Tom McLaughlin &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I am writing to thank all those in our community who expressed their
sympathy to my family and me for the loss of my fatherI guess one of the
hardest feelings to deal with after you lose a parent is the need you have to
tell anyone who will listen what a truly phenomenal person you believed he or
she was. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I was lucky. Everyone knew what great people my parents were, and that
makes everything a little easier. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There isn't one person who knows me who doesn't know how much I adored by
father. In the past few weeks, I have heard people say he was kind,
compassionate, charismatic, lucky, fun, friendly, fair, even beautiful. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 You all are right. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Tom McLaughlin was my father and my friend. He was a remarkable man who was
true to himself above all else. He loved his family, his friends and our
community like no other person I have ever met. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 And he believed in what he loved with undying faith, driven to serve with a
sense of duty and a promise which he never forgot- to be loyal to himself and
to the people and the things he loved. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It was his faith in people and in the general goodness of things that made
my Dad who he was. And I will miss
