 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Ardees Foodrinkery, Route 92 in FallsThe dinner
features over 10 different venison entrees as well as caribou, pheasant,
turkey, mule deer and rabbit. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Price is $8 for adults and $4 for children. All proceeds aid Lions Club

 Permits are required to open burn &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Plains Township Fire Department would like to remind township residents
that they must purchase a 1998 open burning permit before they are permitted
to open burn. Cost is $10. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A spot check of properties will be conducted throughout the township. Any
person burning without a 1998 permit will be prosecuted punishable by a fine
up to $300 plus cost of prosecution. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 The Guidance Staff of the Northwest Area Junior-Senior High School will
host a "Financial Aid Night" at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the high school library. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 All area parents of students planning to continue their education after
graduation, especially juniors and seniors, are invited to attend. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Speakers will be Thomas F. O'Donnell III, regional director of the
Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, and John May Jr., vice
president/manager of the First Union Bank. O'Donnell will discuss grants,
application procedures and the proper completion of the federal/state forms,
and May will discuss loan applications and the various loans that are
available for students and parents to finance a college education. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If school is canceled on the above date due to inclement weather, the
program will take place at a later date. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Mineral, fossil and rock auction set &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Mineralogical Society of Northeastern Pennsylvania will hold its annual
mineral, fossil and rock auction on Sunday in the community room of Ertley
Motorworld, Route 315, Wilkes-Barre. The event will be held from 1 to 4:30
p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 New members are welcome. The Society holds meetings the fourth Sunday of

 Earth Conservancy's Yard and Leaf Waste Composting Facility is available to
all municipalities, private individuals and landscaping professionals, located
in the Greater Wyoming Valley. The facility is located on West Kirmar Parkway
in Newport Township.
