Raymond Yakavonis &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 January 12, 1998 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Raymond M. Yakavonis, 65, of Strand Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Monday at
the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Penn State Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains TownshipBorn in
Hanover Township, Sept. 9, 1932, he was the son of the late Mathias and
Josephine Visnauskate Yakavonis. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He lived in Los Angeles, Calif., for 10 years before moving to Wilkes-Barre
in 1971. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He graduated from Hanover High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He served with the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Pacific during the
Korean War. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Before retiring in 1995, he was employed by Air Products, Hanover Township,
as a fitter for 21 years and previously by Fiberboard, Los Angeles, Calif. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of St. Casimir's Church, Lyndwood, Hanover Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of Amvets Post 59, Breslau, Hanover Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph, Alfred, Daniel, Frank and
the Rev. Edward; sister, Alice Goman. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are his son, Raymond J., East Stroudsburg; several nieces and
nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
