Local dancers head to Carnegie &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Two dozen students of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Academy of Dancing in &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Edwardsville will have the honor of performing on Jan. 25 at New York
City's &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Carnegie HallThey are among 25 dance troupes from across the United States
chosen by the National Association of Performing Arts Educators to appear at
the Winter Dance Festival. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Barbara Warren Woronko Anzalone, academy director, is thrilled that her
students have been selected to perform at the prestigious location. "Are you
kidding? Carnegie Hall!" she said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The National Association of Performing Arts Educators recognizes troupes
that "eschew the `box car' recital mentality ... and understand the theatrical
and entertaining nature of dance," according to a press release from Matthew
Straub, executive director. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "A good performance must involve the audience by being interesting and
emotionally involving- often by taking artistic chances," the release
continued. "The Northeastern Pennsylvania Academy of Dancing takes a chance by
using live music, in this case the Anzalone Brothers and Co. folk music group. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Though Anzalone Brothers and Co. have played major venues, there is always
an element of risk in having live music with a dance group. Unforeseen
situations can occur ... This challenge brings an early maturity and awareness
to dancers." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The young dancers who will perform at the Winter Dance Festival include
Marianna McGill, Erin Jones, Tracey Stolarcyk, Tami Franckiewicz, Nicole Hess,
Jessica Helfrich, Danielle Krawetz, Kristi Shaw, Brittany Davis, Lindsey Shaw,
Jessica Balester, Carla Mazar, Ruthanna Zamber DeFine, Beth Hartshorne, Allie
Downing, Jane O'Borski, Kara Shilinski, Sean Callaghan, Patrick Callaghan,
Karlene Yozwiak, Stacey Lepore, Dana Krawetz, Amanda Davis, Stacey Yefko and
Krystina Durako.
