Greed of `fat cats' harming seniors &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 While browsing around Moody's Mens Store in West Hazleton looking to buy a
new suit, I overheard a conversation between another customer and a sales
clerkIt was 35 years ago, but I remember it vividly. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; This very distinguished-looking gent was patiently trying to tell the clerk
that he wanted to buy a hat with a broad brim that he could snap down and use
to keep the sun out of his eyes. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He spoke with a very heavy accent, and the clerk was patiently trying to
explain to him that hats with broad brims had gone out of style and were no
longer available. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Hearing the conversation, Ed Moody came up with two leftover broad-brim
hats he had stored in the basement. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There were no questions about the sale, so the clerk gave his sales pitch
about how both hats could be bought at a very substantial discount. The old
gent listened politely, then said to the clerk, "What's the matter with you?
Are you crazy? What do I need two hats for? I only got one head!" &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If I could only resurrect this practical gent and send him to Washington to
teach our Fat Cat Legislators a lesson in practicality, I would be very happy.
We need someone who will represent senior citizens. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The legislators talk about the hard choices facing Medicare and Social
Security recipients but make no hard choices on their part. The legislators
still get full medical coverage and ridiculous pensions. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Legislators are making plans for Social Security cuts and entitlement cuts
while we are spending billions of dollars in 73 countries to prevent war.
These cuts hurt millions of Americans who worked hard for 50 years or more,
raised families, exercised good citizenship and paid taxes. Their welfare is
put on the back burner for projects that cannot and will not succeed. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Senior citizen retirees living on fixed incomes are also hurt by the
skyrocketing costs of television advertising that trickle down to consumers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If we don't take immediate action to curb the avarice of advertisers and
television networks, they will continue to put their dirty, filthy, greedy
hands in the pockets of millions of law-abiding people, to a point where in
the not-too-distant future, we will be paying one third of our income for
so-called free television. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Campaign financing reform is also squandering millions of taxpayer dollars
when all it boils down to is one prostitute calling another prostitute a
whore. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Are we still a government of the people, for the people and by the people,
or have we been sold out to $400,000-a-year lobbyists who negotiate monstrous
campaign contributions to both major parties? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
