School children have the day off tomorrow in honor of Martin Luther King
Jr. I &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 know some who are spending their time off going bowling- some ice
skatingMany will be playing video games and perhaps a few will read a book. As
parents and grandparents, let's be sure to spend a few minutes tomorrow
reflecting with our children on Dr. King's message of racial equality and
tolerance. Then let's all go one step further and celebrate the cultural
diversity that helps to make our nation such an interesting, enriching place. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; * * * * &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Dorrance Township American Legion Post 288 meets at 7 p.m. tonight at the
Mountain Post 781, American Legion, Church Road. Commander Robert Lazarowicz

 The Mountaintop Presbyterian Youth Group will go ice skating at
theIce-A-Rama on Monday. Meet at the church at noon. Eat lunch before you
come. Cost is $2 admission plus $1 skate rental. A snack bar is available.
Remember to bring a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian. The group
should return to the church by 3:30 p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 The Mountaintop Senior Center will hold a Health Fair from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Wednesday at the Center. The greater Hazleton Area nurses and doctors will be
on hand to do testing. Cholesterol testing will be done and requires fasting
the night before. Blood pressures will also be taken. Dietary and radiologist
info will be given out. Questions and answers will be part of the program.
These testings are open to the public. Hope you will come and help make this

 The MSK Library is pleased to announce its winter/spring Storytime
schedule. Regular weekly classes for 3- to 5-year-olds not in kindergarten

 Monday: 10:30-11:05 a.m.; Tuesday: 1-1:35 p.m.; Wednesday: 11-11:35 a.m.
and 1-1:35 p.m. Classes will begin the week of Feb. 16 and continue for eight
weeks and include: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Laptime for children 18 months-2 years will be Friday, Feb. 20 and 27 and
March 6 and 13, 11-11:20 a.m. This class is an interactive, hands-on time
between the parent, child and teacher. Parents must stay and participate. For
4- to 6-year-olds, the Storylady will present stories Wednesday evenings from
6-6:45 p.m. every other week. Signup for this class only will be biweekly on a
first-come, first-served basis. First class will be Feb. 11. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Good Evening Storytime for 3- to 4-year-olds will be Thursday, March 19 and
26 and April 2 and 9, 7-7:30 p.m. The class will be a quiet reflective time of
stories, finger plays and talking about the day's events. Signup for all other
classes except the Storylady will be Tuesday, Jan. 27, 10:30 a.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Please note that due to limited class size and teachers, classes fill up
quickly. Therefore, we will not take any pre-registrations and all signups

 The Crestwood Soccer Booster Club will hold its first meeting of the new
year at 7 p.m. Jan. 27, at Crestwood High School. Plans for the upcoming year
will be discussed, including fundraising. All parents of Crestwood soccer

 Registration for new students in all grades for the 1998-99 school year at
St. Jude School, Mountaintop, will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28, 9-11 a.m., 1-2
p.m. and 7-8 p.m. in the gym. Children registering for kindergarten must be 5
years old by Sept. 1, 1998. Full and half-day sessions are available. Parents
of kindergarten registrants must bring the child's birth certificate,
baptismal certificate and immunization record. A $25 registration fee is
required for each student. Kindergarten registrants need not attend

 Mountaintop Area Little League will hold registration for all players for
the 1998 season on the following dates in the Crestwood High School Cafeteria:
Feb. 7, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; Feb. 14, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; Feb. 19, 6-8 p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If you would like to be considered for a manager or coaching position, you
must fill out the application at the time of registration. All managers and
coaches that are selected will be required to submit to a series of background
checks at an initial cost to you of $10. Also, all managers must attend a
Mountaintop Little League Seminar on either March 26 at 7 p.m. or April 18 at
9 a.m. Registration fees are: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 T-Ball, $20 plus fund-raiser. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Little League, $26 plus fund-raiser. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Girls' Teeners, $45 plus fund-raiser. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Boys' Teeners, $55 plus fund-raiser. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There will be two fund-raising options this year. Players may choose to
sell 52 assorted Hershey bars at $1/bar. Each player will receive one box of
52 bars at registration. The candy must be paid for at registration ($52).
Then take as long as you like to sell the candy and recoup 100 percent of your
fund-raising amount. A maximum of two boxes will be required for two or more
players in one family. The second option is a $26 donation/player payable at
registration, and receive no candy. A maximum of $52/family is required for
