Donald Humble &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 January 16, 1998 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Donald R. Humble, 78, formerly of Plains, died Friday in San Antonio,
TexasHe was a member of the American Legion "T" Patch Post #568 for 53 years,
serving as the post adjutant for the past five years, commander for three
years and the 20th district chaplain for four years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was also a member of the Voiture 542 of the Forty and Eight, serving as
Chef de Gare for one year, 3rd division Chef de Train for two years and
Alternate Cheminot of the national organization for one year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of the VFW Post 8544 and the Sons of Hermann Pershing Lodge
160. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He served with the U.S. Army in the 1st Calvary Division during World War
II in the South Pacific, Philippines and Japan. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by his sisters Marjorie Metzger and Esther
Wickert; brothers Francis and James Humble. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are his wife, Ninfa Humble; sons Robert W. Humble, Donald W.
Humble and Brian D. Humble; step-son, Joe R. Chavez; step-daughters Theresa
Marie Tovar, Lyllian Cathleen Rangel and Lynnda Christine Romero; brother,
Jack Humble; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the Roy Akers Funeral Chapel,
515 N. Main Ave., San Ant
