 January 20, 1998 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Steve Smutko, Pittston, died Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Whispell of Panama Street, Pittston, where he was a guest for the past 30 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 yearsBorn in Windburg, he was son of the late Steve and Anna Hdocick
Smutko. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He attended Exeter schools and was a member of the Salvation Army Church in
West Pittston. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Before he retired, he was employed as a butcher for Earl's Beef in
Hughestown. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a lifetime member of the Exeter Fire Department. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by brothers John, Joseph, Mike and Andrew; a
sister, Ann Sunday; and a granddaughter, Amanda Herron. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are a daughter, Ann Herron, Pittston; a sister, Helen Miflan,
Exeter; and several nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from the
Donnelly-Callahan Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston. Lts.
