Thomas Jones &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 January 19, 1998 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Thomas Jones, formerly of Union Street, Taylor, died Monday at the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Northeastern Veterans Center, Penn Avenue, Scranton, where he was a
guestBorn in Old Forge, he was son of the late David T. and Hannah Howells
Jones. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He resided most of his life in Taylor and was educated in Taylor Schools. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in Normandy, Northern
France and the Rhineland. He received the EAME Ribbon, the Combat Infantry
Badge and three bronze service stars. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of the American Legion Post 306, Taylor; the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 4954, Old Forge; FA&amp;M Arcadia Lodge 579, Taylor; and the
Scranton Keystone Consistory. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Before he retired, he was employed as a coal miner for the former Moffat
Coal Co. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of the United Baptist Church of Taylor. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Agnes C. Hennigan, in
1980; and sisters Mary Green and Elizabeth Loughlin. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are a son, Thomas D. Jones, Taylor; and a sister, Ada Frutchey,
Taylor. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the Thomas P. Kearney
Funeral Home
