 The Germania Hose Company, Duryea, will host its annual Pancake Breakfast
from &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 7 a.m. to noon Feb. 8. Takeouts will be availableTickets are $5 for adults
and $3 for children, and are available at the door or from any member. Menu
includes sausage, ham, eggs, rolls, pancakes and choice of beverages. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funds raised will be used to purchase a new floor for the kitchen and
banquet hall. The floor is more than 30 years old and in dire need of
replacement. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Penn State to host &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 `A Dream to Fly' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In honor of Black History Month, Penn State Hazleton will host a
presentation entitled "A Dream to Fly ... the Bessie Coleman Story" by
Madeline McCray at 7 p.m. Feb. 3 in Room 1 of the Kostos Building on campus.
The event is free and open to the public. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The program focuses on the life of Bessie Mae Coleman or "Queen Bess," a
pioneer, aviator, sky diver and visionary, born in 1892 in Atlanta, Texas. Her
attempt to attend aviation school in Chicago proved futile. So she learned
French and received flying lessons in France. She was the first black, male or
female, to earn a international pilot's license- two years before Amelia
Earhart. Returning to America in 1922, she tried to open an aviation school
for blacks, but was unable to secure financial support. She traveled the south
giving lectures in schools, churches and movie houses to raise money. Coleman
also became a circus barnstormer, performing stunts. In 1926, while
performing, she fell to her death. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 KINGSTON &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Tickets on sale for quilt raffle &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends of the Hoyt Library are selling tickets for a hand-sewn,
queen-sized quilt with two matching pillows. The drawing will be on
Valentine's Day, Feb. 14. Tickets may be purchased at the front desk of the
Hoyt Library and are priced at $1 each. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The quilt was crafted by Ann L. Myers, Sidman, Pa., and Hannah Kring,
Elton, Pa., and is done in a multi-colored miniature floral pattern of blues,
pinks, lavender and green. Both women are experienced quilters and have been
crafting quilts for several years. Tickets will be available until the
drawing. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Friends of the Hoyt have several other events planned for the new year,
including: " Murder Mystery Experience" at 7 p.m. April 18 at the Independent
Ballroom, 166 South Sprague Ave. Kingston; a spring bus trip and a "Friends
Festival." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Craft and story hour will be at library &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Laflin Library will offer a Valentine craft and story hour at 11 a.m.
on Feb. 14. Children ages 4 and older are invited to attend but must be
registered. Enrollment is limited. To register or for more information, call
654-3323 by Feb. 12. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Children visiting the library from Feb. 10 through 14 may choose a lollipop
and receive a prize when making their book selections. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

and flavored chocolate fudge during the month of February. Flavors offered
include peanut butter chocolate, raspberry chocolate and chocolate walnut. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
