 Who does this Paula Jones person thinks she is? To have the audacity to
reject the humble request to have sex with our super stud world leader.
Doesn't she realize there are millions of soccer moms out here who would kill
for the glory of just being in the same room with this noble, revered man,
even with his pants on? Shame on her; she must be a Republican. No decent
Democrat woman would ever pass up this chance to be the chosen oneThe person
who thought the incident of racial taunts at the basketball game was of no
importance, is probably one of the parents in whose homes the children are
learning racial prejudice. I too find it hard to believe it's being taught in
the schools. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I'm glad to see justice finally caught up with Fred Williams of WILK. He
invites us to call him but when our opinion conflicts with his, he calls us
crackpots or hangs up on us. His screener even accused me of taking drugs to
discourage one of my calls. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Would somebody please tell me where you got the idea from your SAYSO column
that Freddie Williams is racist. Freddie Williams has sided with the people on
the black issues and he never once tried to use Ron Felton or any other case.
Never once has this man been a racist. So the person or fella that called that
in is totally out of line. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If you are driving west on Butler Street from Kidder Street to North Main,
take a lunch and a full tank of gas. Our new synchronized lights aren't
working that well. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I've been buying The Times Leader all my life, and I'm calling up about
these lotteries. You show in the lottery when the Cash 5 jackpot rolls over.
Well why couldn't you put in every day what the next lotto will be? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 After carefully reading the SAYSO comments in Monday's paper, I guess
there's a problem in Seton Catholic in Pittston or Wyoming Area. People who
make excuses instead of correcting what's wrong, that's not very good. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I've been an Atlanta Braves fan since 1957 back when they were with
Milwaukee, and the recent thing with Hanoi Jane and Ted Turner trying to
change the national anthem, I think it's ridiculous. I'm switching teams just
because of that, and I think all other Braves fans should do the same. Think
about getting another team. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Regarding the story of Monday about smuggling cigarettes into Pennsylvania.
Now it makes sense to make the round trip. You have liquor going one way and
cigarettes going the other. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 When Mayor McGroarty runs for re-election and if he ever runs against a
Republican candidate, I wonder if Governor Ridge will come to Wilkes-Barre and
endorse Mayor McGroarty? As a lifelong Democrat, I wish Mayor McGroarty would
look into Mr. Ridge's politics the last four years. He has hurt education, he
has hurt the little boy, he has hurt the poor people. Please, Mayor McGroarty,
start thinking. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm calling and supporting the caller from Harveys Lake against the
consolidation. I agree with that caller, but I don't think he went quite far
enough. Let's talk about the sewer at Harveys Lake. In 1987 we paid $267 a
year; in 1997 we paid $494. That's approximately an 85 percent increase in 10
years. At the meetings the attendance is very down. It doesn't seem as though
people are very much interested. They don't attend the meetings and I've heard
very few complaints. I can't find anybody that will go along with me on to it.
At the meetings there are less than 10 on an average that attend. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 As a citizen and taxpayer and war veteran of this country, I'd like to know
about that new emissions test that's scheduled in 1999. Luzerne County air
quality is checked and there's nothing wrong with it. Why are we going to get
some kind of a test in 1999? How about fixing all these horrible roads here in
Northeastern Pennsylvania. They have been fixed, some of them since World War
II and the Korean War and they damage of our cars. All these years there have
been millions of dollars in damage here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I don't
think we need an emissions test. So I think something should be done about it.
Once again I want to know, what's more important, fixing these roads or
getting a test that we don't need? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Editor's Note: The federal government adopted amendments to the Clean Air
Act that lower the permitted emissions. The state is phasing it in, having
already begun in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. The test in Luzerne County will
be less exhaustive, involving a stationary test gauging the emissions from the
tailpipe. It will be up to individual garage owners, as opposed to centralized
stations as supported by previous Gov. Robert Casey, said Mark Carmon,
spokesman for the Department of Environmental Protection Agency. The cost is
estimated at $20 to $30. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm calling to ask a favor. I hear that the payroll records of the Wyoming
Valley Sanitary Authority are all public records, and I'd like to know how you
would go about obtaining such records? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Editor's note: Ask for them. That's the only requirement in the law and
public agencies are given a "reasonable time" to produce records. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm calling into SAYSO and asking since the health survey is over, why not
start the rental survey the city councilman suggested a short time ago? The
first survey should be the Section 8 rental units, where there's a lot of
fraud going on. The government pays rent for the poor in these rental
apartments, but they don't investigate how the money is spent. The heat in
some of these units is so low that the little ones huddle in one room to keep
warm because the heat doesn't reach to the other rooms. These private
investors are making a quick buck on these poor people, getting rich in the
end. Shame, shame, shame, on you doing this. Why doesn't the city take over
these units to see if they're properly managed and get part payment from the
government? This will lift some of the burden off us taxpayers. Come on out
there and express your view on this issue. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 I'd like to know who was responsible for removing Judge Lokuta from the
stage during the swearing in ceremonies? Was it Gene Klein that was
responsible for it? I'd also like to know exactly what Mr. Gene Klein's job
is? Exactly what is he supposed to do at the courthouse? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Editor's note: He's chief clerk of the county. We don't know who ordered
Lokuta off the stage. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I was calling to respond to the person who believes that the incident
between Seton Catholic and Wyoming Seminary at the basketball game thinks that
America doesn't have a sense of humor anymore. I'd just like to say that I
don't see how racial intolerance is a laughing matter. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Someone in today's SAYSO said sex education in the schools should be a
complete success since there was over a million abortions last year. That's
not a success. If there were a million kids who can say that they didn't have
sex or they did it safely, that would be a success. Abortion is not a success.
