Some people's cruelty to animals extends beyond the creatures' lifetime &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I believe that the public's awareness regarding cruelty to animals warrants
media attention. Cruelty can occur even after the animal is dead. Sanitation, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; public safety and the proper way to dispose of a dead pet are also why I am
writing to youDuring November of last year, my family became residents of
Mountaintop. Every morning since that time I have walked my black Lab and
faithful companion, "Bubba," on a road behind my house. Recently, we made a
gruesome discovery on that road. Someone had thrown a green garbage bag on the
side of the road and when my Lab saw it and smelled it, he began to cry
terribly. I was worried that there was a live animal or infant in the bag so I
frantically poked a hole in it, only to find that someone had disposed of a
dead shepherd/collie mix in that manner. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If for no other reason than sanitation, this was an inconsiderate thing to
do. Nearby wildlife- deer, squirrels, possum, or chipmunks- not to mention
dogs or cats who have broken lose, could have gotten into that bag and become
violently ill. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 How could anyone allow such a loyal, trusting animal to be discarded like a
pile of garbage? It was a living, breathing creature who gave its love
unconditionally to its owners. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I wonder how many times that dog looked up at its owner with total devotio
