Barbara Ann Watkins &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Barbara Ann Watkins of 655 Lantern Hill Road, Shavertown, Kingston
Township, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; died Thursday at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, after a
long and courageous battle with leukemiaBorn in Wilkes Barre, she was the
daughter of George and Frances Paddick of Hudson, Plains Township. She resided
in Dallas for many years before moving to Shavertown. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Mrs. Watkins was a graduate of Plains High School and Wilkes-Barre Business
College. She attended Wilkes College. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She had been employed for several years at RCA in Mountaintop and later
affiliated with her husband in his dental practice in Dallas. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was a member of the Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Dallas, the
Auxiliary of the Luzerne County Dental Society and was active with its
Daffodil Days. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend to all who knew her.
Her kindness, compassion and gentle nature allowed Barbara to surround herself
with many dear friends. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Through her efforts, a new program was begun in the city of Houston, Texas,
to have blood products readily available for the patients of the M.D. Anderson
Cancer Center. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 One final wish was that anyone who would care to do so, would become a
blood donor or register for the bone marrow donor program so that a cure for
leukemia may be possible. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her husband of 31 years, Dr.
William E. Watkins; a daughter, Kimberly, Dallas; a son, Dr. Scott Watkins, at
home; brothers, George Paddick, Bear Creek; David Paddick, New York City; and
a nephew, Ryan Paddick, State College. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Private funeral services will be held Monday at the convenience of the
family from the Metcalfe &amp; Shaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wy
