YATESVILLE- Pittston Area's wrestling team was looking for some respect. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Despite finishing the Wyoming Valley Conference regular season with a 9-2
mark, Patriot coach Matt Giampietro and his squad felt they were a bit
overlooked heading into Saturday's District 2 Class AAA Dual Meet
Championships. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; That's no longer the case. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Patriots made a strong statement by winning the AAA dual meet title
with an impressive 37-27 victory against Berwick at Pittston Area High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "I used the respect factor as a motivational tool," Giampietro said. "I
told them if you wanted to be considered the best you have to prove it. Until
you prove it, you're not going to get the respect you deserve." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Patriots proved it in a big way. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Pittston Area's Dave Juice received a forfeit at 103, then John Healey
followed with a pin against Nick Whitenight at 112 and John Gaul earned his
first dual meet victory of the season with a major decision against Chris
Kovach at 119, giving the Patriots a quick 16-0 lead. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "That was critical," Giampietro said of the fast start. "Winning at 112 and
119 was huge." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Berwick finally got on the board when Mark Fisher scored a 6-3 decision
against Jack Distasio at 125. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Dawgs stayed on a roll as John Robinson scored a 7-4 decision against
Andy Healey at 130 and Justin Bohl pinned Jim Shimonis at 135. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Trailing 16-12, Berwick took its first lead after John Robinson's forfeit
victory at 140. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 That lead was short-lived, however, as Jason Woodall answered with a pin
against George Brown at 145 that gave the Patriots the lead for good- 22-18. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Pittston Area's Bob Woodall followed with a pin against Bill Thomas at 152,
and James Woodall scored a decision against Paul Ervin at 160 to up the
advantage to 31-18. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Ken Romanczyk then sealed the Patriots' victory with a pin against Anthony
Melchiorre at 171 to take a 37-18 lead. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We feel we can wrestle with anybody," Giampietro said. "We beat three good
teams (Saturday). We put it all together, and these young men did a great
job." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Pittston Area advanced to the finals with a 44-18 victory against Wyoming
Valley West and a 32-29 victory against Lackawanna League Division I
regular-season champion Honesdale. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Berwick qualified for the finals with a 66-9 rout of West Scranton and a
39-30 decision over Abington Heights. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We wrestled two good matches," Berwick coach Ernie Yates said. "We just
didn't have the intensity that's normally there against Pittston Area. But you
got to give (the Patriots) credit for that, they took it right at us." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
