 I'm calling about the article on Sans Souci Park. I loved Sans Souci Park
and &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I never got tired of going there. If there's going to be any reunion of any
employees that worked there, I'd love to know who to contactI'm calling about
the new police contract coming down, and the mayor saying that he's going to
have to lay people off. Well, I'd like your paper to find out, if he's got to
lay people off, why is it that the police force is the smallest that it's ever
been in a lot of years? They have a chief, a deputy chief, two captains of
detectives, they have a public safety director, and they're making like
$45,000 a year, these management positions. I have a suggestion, maybe you
could ask the mayor, get rid of the top weight and maybe then that will cut
some salaries. He has all his buddies in these high-powered positions making
45 or $50,000 and he also hired that new attorney ... to oversee the Police
Department legal stuff. There's not enough patrolman to oversee it. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The question I have is, with all the credit card fraud and all the
identification scheming that's going on in the country, I see that the IRS and
the state tax return, right inside you open the first page and the Social
Security number of both you and your wife are right there in plain view. I
can't understand why we still do this thing knowing that there's so much of
this stealing going on. In my opinion, they shouldn't be allowed. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 This call is directed to all elementary and high school basketball coaches,
who only allow their best players into the games. I have a flash for you.
You're only amateurs, not professionals. You're not vying for monetary
rewards. This should be a time of learning and experience for all team
members. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 After reading this morning's paper, I see patrolman Ed Soltis won another
battle with Mayor McGroarty. I think we ought to run Ed Soltis for mayor. He
seems to be doing more for his people then the mayor is for his. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm addressing SAYSO regarding a Wilkes-Barre Area School District problem
at Solomon elementary school in Plains Township. As a parent, I feel somebody
better address the lunch ladies and the people in charge of the lunch program
at Solomon. If these lunch ladies are incapable of handling or coping with the
children, you don't belong there. Our children aren't required to cope with
your dispositions for the short half hour they are allowed for eating lunch.
We should all eat in a relaxed environment; it's better for digestion. Also,
we also need younger secretaries. Don't be offended ladies, but two of you
ladies should be retired. It's time. We need secretaries that are good under
pressure, sometimes it's just a time to step back. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I want to call to report something that happened to my friend on the
weekend. She was working in an apartment building in Wilkes-Barre city, and
she parked in a spot that she now knows she shouldn't have. She didn't know at
the time. City Wide Towing towed her, and wouldn't take a check for her to
pick up her car for $85. I think that's ludicrous. She's a diabetic, this made
her very sick, and I think this is terrible that this man gets away with this. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If the mayor is so worried about all his budget cuts, why doesn't he stop
giving all the free materials and labor away to the school districts for the
paving projects and the concrete projects that he's done, and the free dump
trucks with the plows on it, and giving all the free material and time and
labor to Chacko's Bowling Alley? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm calling about the Wilkes-Barre Police Department minimizing its
officers, I say amen to that. I remember a few years ago I was beaten up by a
live-in boyfriend, and after escaping from my bedroom window, I went to the
police station in hysterics, clothes ripped, no shoes in the middle of winter
and scratches on my face and neck. I was turned away only because we lived
together. I've had a totally different view of the Wilkes-Barre Police
Department since then. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Today is Feb. 3, Tuesday, 1998, and I was just glancing at the article on
Page 6A of the TL, regarding the Pennsylvania delegation of the NAACP and
their resolve to rid the classrooms of such classics, such as Mark Twain's the
"Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and so forth, because of the use of the word
"n....." to describe African Americans. I'd like to ask local NAACP
representative Ron Felton why he doesn't condemn such notable African
Americans such as Spike Lee, Eddie Murphy and Sinbad, just to mention a few,
who use the "N" word in their movies and standup comedy acts. Also every major
rap group uses the "N" word at least 10 or more times in every one of their
rap songs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I think it's terrible what they did to our former mayor Gary Reese, his
home, and his daughter's car. I was born and raised in Kingston where my
father was a civic leader and also my brother served on the Kingston Police
Department. Kingston is a lovely and friendly neighborhood. I think the people
that are responsible for their actions, and if they're caught, should be
prosecuted for their actions. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Pat Judge was elected by the voters of the Republican party to represent
them as a state committee person on the State Republican Committee. He should
resign as that, because he now lives in Lackawanna County. We don't want him
representing us voters in Luzerne County, since he doesn't live here. Please
turn your resignation in Pat, everyone would appreciate it. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In regard to the ruling regarding firefighters Gary Guesto and Klapat, this
is an outrage. In corporate America today those two people would have been
fired, and that would have been it. Fired from the company just like the mayor
should have in the beginning. You try to be nice to people, give them
sensitivity training, not in the Wyoming Valley. The only thing they know is,
take the job away from them, they don't deserve it. How could Guesto go to the
bank and look at a person in the eye and cash that check? They should be
ashamed of themselves, both of them. This is an outrage. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It's Wednesday, Feb. 4th, and I'm calling maybe with a little bit of
complaint about the school system in Wilkes-Barre. My nephew goes to GAR and
admits to starting and causing a fight, a physical fight, and he was rewarded
with a 10-day suspension at home. So he's thrilled, a 10th-grader all day
alone at home. Now my son goes up to Wilkes-Barre Vo-Tech, and tells me that
there's an in-school suspension room up there, that if this happened up there
the child would be sent right to school, but in school is a room. I also have
a friend who has a child that goes over to Valley West, and they also have an
in-school suspension room. So with these high paid teachers are GAR and other
schools, can't we get an in school suspension and stop rewarding these kids?
Because, we're encouraging them. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I can't believe an arbitrator ruled in favor of the two firemen involved in
the racial slur that occurred in Wilke
