Valentine's Day is fast-approaching. Did you order roses for your
sweetheart? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

spending Feb. 14 on the ski slopes with my church youth group. Romantic, `eh? &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I just hope there's snow. The last two years, we've had to cancel our day
at the ski resort due to warm weather! Here are some fun things to do around

 Happy Birthday one day late to my good friend, Kate Bender. Kate celebrated
another year yesterday, Feb. 7. I know parents, John and Kim and younger

 Winter Fest '98, St. Jude School's indoor Winter Carnival, continues today,
noon-6 p.m. in Father Nolan Hall. Many fun games are available for children
and adults, including bean bag pets, Big 6 Wheel, Sand Layering, Instant
Bingo, the Bubble Factory and Gold Fish Booth. Other booths include a Chinese
Auction featuring great theme baskets, crafts, baked goods and food. Buy
chances to win a Disney World family vacation valued at $2,063 and arranged
through Eagle World Travel. The public is invited to come out of the cold and

 The Fairview Elementary PTA will host its annual sixth and seventh grade
Spelling Bee at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the school gym. Parents, family and friends

 The Marian Sutherland Kirby Library announces its Winter/Spring Storytime
schedule: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Regular weekly classes: 3-5 year-olds not in kindergarten will be offered
sessions, Mondays, 10:30-11:05 a.m., Tuesdays, 1-1:35 p.m., Wednesdays,
11-11:35 a.m. or 1-1:35 p.m. Classes will begin the week of Feb. 16 and will
continue for eight weeks. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Laptime for children: 18 months-2 years, Feb. 20, 27 and March 6, 13 from
11-11:20 a.m. This class is an interactive, hands-on time between the parent,
child and teacher. Parents must stay and participate. For children 4-6 years
old, the Story Lady will present stories on Wednesday evenings from 6-6:45
every other week. Signups for this class only will be bi-weekly on a
first-come, first-served basis. The first class will be Feb. 11. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Good Evening Storytime: 3-4 year-olds, Thursday, March 19, 26 and April 2,
9, from 7-7:30 p.m. The class will be a quiet, reflective time of stories,
finger plays and talking about the day's events. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Signups for all classes except the story lady are being taken now. You may
register your child by either calling or coming into the library. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Senior Citizens can receive free Tax Preparation Services Monday afternoons
through April 13. Call the library (474-9313) for details. This program is
available in cooperation with the AARP. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Dog licenses for 1998 will be available at the MSK Library the entire month
of February under the sponsorship of the Friends of the Library. Sale hours
are Mondays, 2-4:30 p.m., Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2
p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Orders will be taken for delicious meat and potato pasties beginning this
Saturday. The ethnic delicacies are only $3.50 each and can be ordered (you
guessed it) at the library. Payment is due with orders. Order deadline is
March 14. Pickup will be Saturday, March 21, noon-1 p.m. at the library. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Delicious, creamy chocolate and flavored chocolate fudge is on sale during
the month of February. The "Friends" of the library have "lovingly" prepared
chocolate, peanut butter-chocolate, raspberry-chocolate and chocolate-walnut
fudge for this Valentine fund-raiser. Boxed fudge sells for $2. If you have

the 1998 season on the following dates in the Crestwood High School Cafeteria:

considered for a manager or coaching position, you must fill out the
application at the time of registration. All managers and coaches that are
selected will be required to submit to a series of background checks at an
initial cost to you of $10. Also, all managers must attend a Mountaintop
Little League Seminar at 7 p.m. March 26 or 9 a.m. April 18. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

attraction will include the renewal of marriage vows for couples. The cost of
the dance is $20 per couple and includes beer, snacks, and soda. Wines and
spirits are BYOB. A limited number of reservation for a 6 p.m. candlelight
dinner at the Stage Coach Inn are also available. The cost of dinner is $12
