 I am writing to thank the wonderful gentleman who so bravely helped me and
my husband one snowy and icy night on Montage Road. Our car skidded off the
road and into a deep gully, leaving us helpless. While waiting for the AAA to
arrive and rescue us, an anonymous driver saw us in trouble and proceeded to
help. I thank this gentleman from the bottom of our hearts. There are still
kind and caring people in this world. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Corine Piazza &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 I would like to publicly thank Deputy Sheriffs Joseph Agolino and Brian
Atherholt for assisting me when my vehicle skidded and came to a halt on the
Cross Valley Expressway during the surprise snowstorm on Jan. 24. They truly
went beyond the call of duty in a very courteous and professional manner. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 I am writing to show my appreciation to an organization I belong to but
never had occasion to use before. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I am a female, handicapped senior citizen who knows nothing about
automobiles. Recently, I couldn't start my car, and having no one to call, I
was asked if I had AAA in which I am indeed a member. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I called and AAA sent over a gentleman to try and start my car. He was so
patient and nice to me, and I was so grateful that I had AAA membership. The
AAA repairman said the car needed to be towed because there was more wrong
than he could fix at the moment. He called his obliging partner who towed my
car to Moosic and then took me home. Thank you, Fred and Vince of Fred's AAA
Garage. I wouldn't hesitate again to call AAA and ask for those two gentlemen
again. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Recently a friend of the library deposited 10 gold coins in the donation
box of the Osterhout Free Library. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 These coins were designated for the Joan M. Costello Endowment Fund, a fund
recently established to purchase books and library materials in honor of Miss
Costello who served as librarian for many years. The value of the coins is
between $3,800 and $5,000. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Board of Directors, the Staff and Miss Costello are grateful to this
generous person, and we hope our anonymous benefactor reads this letter and
understands that the generous gift will be used to help serve all the patrons
of the Library, both present and future. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Trish Opachinski is my hero. On January 10, my mother and I were in a car
accident when our car skidded on some ice and hit a tree. Trish was very brave
and very nice to stop and help people whom she didn't know. I was relieved
that she had a car phone. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She didn't panic, but called the ambulance and gave them perfect
directions. Then she called my dad. She told me not to worry that I was going
to be fine, and so was my mother. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 After I got in the ambulance, Trish disappeared and I felt bad that I
didn't get to thank her in person. My mother and I both are very lucky to be
here. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Thank you Trish for stopping and helping. Thank you Rice Township Fire and
Rescue, Mountaintop Ambulance 64 and Unit 33. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 We are writing in hopes that you will print this letter of thanksgiving for
the wonderful people of this community who have reached out to help us in our
time of need. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 We are the newlyweds who, after just returning from our honeymoon two weeks
earlier, lost everything in a fire on Christmas Eve. Our wedding gifts,
Christmas presents and furniture were destroyed, but we thank God we have our
lives. We are grateful to the volunteer fire for responding so quickly. We
thank the local businesses and individuals who have shown their warm hearts by
donating furniture, appliances and money. We couldn't possibly thank them all
personally- there were too many, so we are praying they read this and know we
are speaking to them. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 We warmly thank attorney Christopher P. Arnone, Corestates Bank,
Evangelical Free Bible Church, Holy Name of Jesus Youth Group, Prudential
Securities, and the Red Cross. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Most people want to believe that we live in a community in which everyone
cares for each other. That our society has not departed from the "good old
days," where neighbors extended a helping hand. We are here as a testimony
that this community remains that way. The people of this area are wonderful. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 In an era of managed health care, we need to pay tribute to physicians who
want to "do good" despite the pressures to deliver quick, cheap medical
service. Challenged by the complex needs of old soldiers who aren't yet ready
to die, the Veterans Medical Center has risen to the occasion. They have given
us Dr. Kiritkumar Sutaria. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I aprreciate Dr. Sutaria's careful explanation of tests, meticulous
adjustment of treatments and follow-up care. But there's so much more than
competence that needs recognition: There's warmth, tact, kindness and
understanding that makes soldiers proud to have fought for their country. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Veterans are fortunate
