Mayor scuttles good `college town' relations while pursuing gimmicks &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Mayor Thomas McGroarty shows how to help Wilkes-Barre become a college
townHundreds of people will lose their parking spaces when Park and Lock South
becomes an exclusive parking facility for the use of employees of CallCenter
Services Inc. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; An article titled, "Not all parkers getting aid" (Feb. 5), states, "Others,
including many Wilkes University students who park there, may not be so lucky.
Mayor McGroarty said he can afford to help only those "who pay taxes in the
city." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It is true that the students do not pay taxes in Wilkes-Barre. It is not
true that Mayor McGroarty cannot find funds to help provide parking space for
these students. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If Mayor McGroarty can find funds for such outlandish gimmicks as banners
around the Public Square or a museum-quality antique steam-operated
locomotive, he can certainly find funds to help these students find parking
places. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
