WILLIAM SOKOL &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 November 19, 1998 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; William J. Sokol, 69, of Hill Park Avenue, Pittston died Thursday at
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a lengthy illness. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Born March 16, 1929, in Pittston, he was a son of the late Jacob and Susan
Kanuck Sokol. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He attended Pittston schools. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a U.S. Army-Air Force veteran, serving from 1947 to 1949. He was
stationed in Japan for some time. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1227, Duryea and the
Lithuanian Citizens Club, Pittston. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Prior to his disability, he was employed at Pittston Apparel Co. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Pavlico, Joseph Pavlico,
Alex Sokol and John Sokol, and sister, Anne Nametka. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Dolores Hantz; son, Donald
Sokol, Pittston; sisters, Agnes Neff and Margaret Ramage, both of Pittston;
and Susan Liggett, Mays Landing, N.J.; and nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the Kizis-Lokuta Funeral
Home, 134 Church St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.
