12 Pa. BiLo stores to close &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Penn Traffic Company, the parent company of BiLo Foods, announced Thursday
it plans to close 12 stores throughout the stateIn November, Penn Traffic
notified the state Department of Labor and Industry that it intends to
"permanently discontinue its supermarket operations" at 23 BiLo Foods stores. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; But until Thursday, Penn Traffic continued to deny that a decision about
any potential closings had been made. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Spokesman Marc Jampole would not say which 12 BiLo stores would close. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Penn Traffic included the closure information in a release with its third
quarter earnings for 1998. During the quarter, Penn Traffic had a net loss of
$41 million, $3.88 per share for the third quarter of 1998. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 That loss is three times as large as the $13.5 million, or $1.25 per share
loss, for the third quarter of 1997. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Cash flow for the third quarter of 1998 was $16.1 million, down from $39.1
million for the third quarter of 1997 - a drop of 58.7 percent. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
