Young at heart &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 `It wasn't like it was a job' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Andy Stetz, who is in his early 70s (but wouldn't be specific), has spent
most of his life in the family business, John B. Stetz men's clothing store on &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 South Main Street in Wilkes-BarreHe retired for the first time in 1995, but
he couldn't get the business out of his blood, so he returned. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "I didn't want to come back full-time," he said. "I come in at 9:30 or 10
o'clock, I leave at noon and play golf. It's just to have a nice hobby. I like
to meet people, I like to talk to people. It was always fun. It wasn't like it
was a job." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He's closing the doors for good next year, because business isn't what it
used to be. The regular customers have been faithful, but that's not enough to
keep the store going. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He knows he'll miss the customers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It's not like I'm dealing with hard-boiled eggs; I'm dealing with
friends," he said. "Basically, they're all customers and friends."- &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 `You'll never hear us say that' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "I never say I want the senior citizen discount. I guess I'm in denial,"
said Lenora Hayden of Huntsville, taking a break from baby-sitting duties as
her 2-year-old granddaughter slept. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We don't think about age. We feel the same," she said with a nod toward
her husband and fellow baby sitter, Ken. "We kept busy all our lives and
that's that. We love being outside. Thank God we don't have arthritis. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "My mother used to say, `if God spares,' and I've heard people say `if I
live that long.' You'll never hear us say that," said Hayden, who declines to
reveal her age but admits that she and her husband are retired. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Ken enjoyed all his years of coaching and teaching. Now he's glad to be
home. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We love our life, wouldn't you say?"- &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Mary Therese Biebel &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 `I don't need all this now' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She lives only a few miles from her hometown of Yatesville, but Mary Alt
believes it's time to move closer to home. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 So, at the age of 81, Alt has sold her Plains Township home and is moving
into a Pittston Township apartment. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Her husband of 25 years, Norman, passed away four months ago, and Alt sees
no reason to stay in the couple's three bedroom, 1,400-square-foot home in
Birchwood Estates. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Alt has no children, but her nine brothers and sisters all live in the
Pittston area, and she wants to be closer to them. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She's getting plenty of assistance from family members with the move. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "My niece came over the other day and packed two boxes," she says. "I told
them if they want to, go ahead." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Even with the help, Mary says it will be hard to leave her home of 11
years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It's rough," said Mary. "But I'm happy that I'm going. I don't need all
this now."- &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 `I think that's a great saying' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Charles Gennaro wonders if younger people recognize the insight within some
of their colloquialisms. Gennaro's particularly fond of this one: He's got an
attitude problem. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Damn, I think that's a great saying," said Gennaro, 77, of the Vine Manor
housing complex in Hazleton. "I don't know if they know exactly the depth of
that wisdom." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 As president of the Vine Manor-Vine West Resident Council, a commissioner
on the Hazleton Housing Authority and president of the Pennsylvania
Association of Resident Councils, Gennaro hopes to do a little attitude
adjustment of his own. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Public housing is considered unjustly as the bottom of the barrel, and we
resent that," he said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Low-income housing benefits younger families struggling to survive with
dignity and helps older residents do the same, he said. However, he admits
older residents often have trouble adjusting to becoming a "ward of the state.
They feel as if they are in a degraded state." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
