Kirby Center chief: ‘The Kirby is not going anywhere’

After dominating the District 2 wrestling tournament, Pittston Area&rsquo;s James Spindler found himself in an uphill battle to qualify for Super Regionals at 160 pounds after losing his first match in the Northeast 3A regionals on Saturday in Palmer Township.
				Spindler was able to right the ship, picking up decision wins in his first two consolation matches to reach the third-place match and earning a spot in Super Regionals with the top four in each weight class making it.
				Spindler had the chance to avenge his first-round loss in the third-place match, but he once again lost a decision against Nazareth&rsquo;s Ryan Fairchild.
				Spindles was one of six wrestlers to advance to next weekend&rsquo;s Super Regionals in Quakertown.
				There were high expectations for Dallas&rsquo; Thaddeus Mead as well in the 172-pound bracket, but he fell in his first match and his first consolation match.
				Hazleton Area&rsquo;s Johnny Corra picked up a quick pin in his first match in the 113-pound bracket, but lost his next two matches.
				Two Wyoming Valley Conference wrestlers were in the 126-pound bracket, Julian Everitt from Pittston Area and Hazleton Area&rsquo;s Beck Hutchinson. Both won their first match but lost in their second, sending them to the consolation bracket.
				Everitt fell in his first consolation match but Hutchinson earned a pin to head into the third-place match and punch his ticket to Super Regionals. In the third-place match, Hutchinson fell to Patrick Snoke, who he defeated in his first match of the day.
				Crestwood&rsquo;s Trey Zabroski entered the 138-pound tournament with just five matches on the season so far, but he won his first match before losing to the top seed. In the consolation bracket, Zabroski won his second match of the day to advance to Super Regionals and the third-place match where Zabroski lost a 4-3 decision.
				Jayden Pahler from Wilkes-Barre Area wreslted in the 145-pound bracket and lost his first match but picked up a win in the consolation bracket before losing a close decision in his second consolation match.
				Pittston Area&rsquo;s C.J. Demark was in the 152-pound bracket and won his first match, but a loss in his second sent him to the consolation bracket where an injury default put him into the third-place match and Super Regionals. In the third-place match, Demark was pinned in the first round.
				Hazleton Area&rsquo;s Bryce Molinaro and Seth Hunsinger both qualified for super regionals with Molinaro making it all the way to the 189-pound third place-match and Hunsinger making it to the 215-pound championship.
				Molinaro won a slim 3-2 decision to claim the third-place match and Hunsinger fell in the championship bout to Jason Henderson, the same foe he lost to in the district championship.
				Hazleton Area also had Dante Matarella wrestle in the 285-pound bracket, but he was forced into the consolation bracket after one match and even though he picked up a pin in his first consolation match, he lost his second, eliminating him from the tournament.
