The Big Event is the single largest community service project that takes place at Wilkes University every year. This year it is scheduled for Saturday, April 25.Approximately 400 students sign up to be a volunteer at one of the 25 to 30 Big Event work sites in the towns that surround campus. These sites include places like The Lands at Hillside Farms, Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge, the Riverfront, CEO Foodbank and more.The Big Event promotes unity between campus and community as students come together for one day to express their gratitude through service for the support fro the Wilkes-Barre community. Students work in teams to complete projects across Luzerne County as a way to say &#8220;thank you&#8221; to the community for their support of Wilkes students.After the event, community members will see students out on the greenway celebrating their hard work. Sponsors of the event include Gerrity&#8217;s Supermarkets, Shoprite in Daleville, Target, Wegman&#8217;s, Lowe&#8217;s, Justus Hardware, Price Chopper and Rodano&#8217;s.
