YATESVILLE - Berwick wrestling coach Ernie Yates was confident entering the
District 2 Class 3A Dual Meet Tournament on Friday night at Pittston Area High
School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 But Yates was also a bit worried. Although his team dropped only one match
in the Wyoming Valley Conference 2000-'01 wrestling season, the Bulldogs lack
experience with eight starters who are sophomores or freshmen. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; But talent easily made up for youth as top-seeded Berwick coasted to a
54-16 victory over Scranton. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Berwick will face fourth-seeded Pittston Area, a 34-25 winner over
Honesdale, in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. today. Third-seeded Wyoming Valley
West, a 58-9 winner over Crestwood, will face No. 2 West Scranton in the other
semifinal match. The Invaders coasted past Crestwood, 58-9. The final will
follow at 7:30 p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ``I am definitely worried (about the inexperience),'' Yates said. ``We are
just taking it one match at a time.'' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Bulldogs, who are in pursuit of their first District 2 duals title, got
off to a quick start and never looked back. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Jeremy Griffin (112) upped his season mark to 21-1 with a decision over Ed
Suarez to put Berwick up 9-0. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 After Berwick forfeited at 119 pounds, Nick Yalch scored a major decision
at 125 for his 22nd victory of the season and a 14-6 Berwick lead. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Bulldogs put the match away when Sean Killoran (145), Jerimiah
Mensinger (152) and Mike Viti (160) recorded consecutive pins. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Patriots built a 34-9 lead behind pins from Phil Dunn (103), Matt
Morreale (130), Pat O'Hara (145) and Bill Vassell (152). &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Hornets fought back, taking four of the final six matches, but it
wasn't enough. Although his team lost, Honesdale senior Joe Arnone (171)
reached a career milestone by picking up his 100th victory. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Both the Spartans and Invaders rolled in the later matches, holding their
opponents to single-digit scoring. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Valley West got pins from Brandon Romanoski (125), Shawn Matello (140), Joe
Danowski (145) and Pat Bellas (152). The Comets' only victory came on a major
decision by Nick Vakay at 112. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ``Abington has some tough kids. The score looks good, but they really made
us work,'' Spartan coach Steve Gavrish said. ``I like our chances tomorrow,
but we have to come out aggressive.'' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 West Scranton racked up 40 points before Crestwood got on the board. Pins
came from Dave Morgan (119), Nelson Villafane (130), Bob Bareese (135), Brian
Harrison (140), Jeff Weinerth (160), Adam Quinnan (189) and Dennis Hricenak
(HWT). Crestwood's lone pin came from Mike O'Hara (171). &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Invaders beat the Spartans 36-21 in last year's final. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
