Because of inclement weather on Monday, the following Wyoming Valley
Conference and area college sporting events have been postponed or
rescheduled. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In boys basketball, the Crestwood-Hanover Area game has been changed from
Friday to Thursday at 7:30 p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Seton Catholic at GAR has been moved to tonight at 7:30. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Doors open at 6 p.m. for today's Coughlin at Wyoming Valley West varsity
game. Game time is 7:30. There will be no junior varsity contest. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In girls basketball, the following games will be played at 7:30 p.m. today:
Crestwood at Dallas, Lake-Lehman at Wyoming Area, GAR at Seton Catholic,
Northwest at Wyoming Seminary and Meyers at Bishop Hoban. The Hanover Area at
Nanticoke contest will be played this afternoon. Junior varsity action begins
at 2:45 p.m., with the varsity to follow at 4 p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wyoming Valley West at Coughlin will be played at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. No
makeup dates were announced for Pittston Area at Hazleton Area and Tunkhannock
at Berwick. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Crestwood at Abington Heights wrestling match has been postponed until
Saturday. Junior varsity action begins at 6:45 p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In swimming, the Hazleton Area at Wyoming Valley West boys and girls meets
have been rescheduled for today at 4 p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In area college basketball, the Misericordia men's and women's doubleheader
against Cabrini will be played Thursday. The Lady Cougars tip off at 6 p.m.,
with the men to follow at 8. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Monday's King's men's basketball game vs. Rutgers-Camden has been canceled. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 The Greater Scranton Penn State Chapter is sponsoring its annual ``Night
With Phil Grosz'' Friday in the cafeteria of the Worthington Scranton campus
in Dunmore. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Grosz is the owner/publisher of Blue-White Illustrated - a newspaper
devoted to Penn State sports - and the founder of the G&amp;W Recruiting Report. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He will answer questions about the Nittany Lions' incoming football class. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Doors open at 6 p.m. Presentation begins at 7. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Deer management talks set &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Gary Alt, the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Deer Management Section
supervisor, has scheduled a series of statewide public meetings regarding the
state's deer management plans. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In the Northeast Region, a meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at
Carbondale Area High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ``The issue of deer management invokes strong emotions from many people,''
Alt said. ``Over the past few years, the commission's deer management approach
has drawn sharp criticism. However, beginning last year, the commission began
taking steps to improve its management of the deer herd. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ``To continue our public education and outreach efforts, I will be
cooperating with several local partners and legislators to hold a public
meeting within 50 miles of every Pennsylvanian. These meetings will provide an
excellent forum for me to hear people's views on the changes proposed by the
commission, and for me to describe why we believe this new direction will
work.'' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Ten such meetings have been scheduled statewide through Feb. 13. Details on
additional meetings being planned for late February and March are being
finalized. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Misericordia duo honored &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 College Misericordia sophomore Willie Chandler has been named the
Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He averaged 28.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 assists in a 2-1
PAC week for the Cougar. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Misericordia's women's basketball player Leslie Livingstone was named to
the league honor roll. She averaged 12 points, 9.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists and
3.1 steals as her team went 2-1. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ICE HOCKEY &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Pirates have 1-1 week &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 The Pocono Pirates Squirt Black team defeated the Pennsylvania Predators
5-2 on Sunday at the Ice Box in Pittston. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Matt Luksic opened the scoring with two goals on assists by Matt Benedetto
and Kevin Nagle. Drew Clauss added another goal on an assist by Sean Davis and
Kevin Zirnheld. In the second period, Nagle added another goal to make it 4-0.
Nagle scored again from Nick Lieback to finish the scoring. Goaltender Drew
Slocum had 23 saves. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 On Saturday, the Pirates lost to the Royals at the Wintersport Ice Arena.
Nagle scored on an assist by Ray Spiccoli and Slocum. Zirnheld scored the
second goal on assists from Sean Davis and Angelo Gennell. Chris O'Hara made
11 saves for the Pirates. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Pirates' next game is Friday at the Hill School in Pottstown. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Karen Mazarki, of Dallas, recently scored her first career hole in one at
the Port Charlotte Golf Club in Port Charlotte, Fla. Using a driver, she aced
the 151-yard 15th hole. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
