A pair of District 2 Dual Meet Wrestling Tournament winners hit the mats
tonight in the first round of the PIAA Team Tournament. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Class 3A champion Wyoming Valley West (15-3) will have its hands full with
D-4 champ Milton (13-1) - the third-ranked dual meet team in the state
according to Off the Matt - at 7 p.m. at Nanticoke Area High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Meyers (17-2), the best in Class 2A, will face D-1 champion Octorara at 7
at Spring Ford Middle School in Royersford. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Valley West, which avenged previous losses to West Scranton and Berwick in
the D-2 tournament during the weekend, will have its biggest challenge of the
season. Milton's only loss came to nationally ranked Northampton of District
11, 32-24, on Dec. 9. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Black Panthers feature a trio of outstanding wrestlers in junior
112-pounder Chris Provencher (27-3), sophomore 125-pounder Zach Anspach (22-3)
and senior heavyweight Tommy Snyder (26-3). After winning the D-4 title last
season, Milton fell in the first round of states to Upper Perkiomen. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Meyers, the 20th-ranked team in the state, faces something of an upstart in
Octorara. The suburban Philadelphia school, ranked third in the three-team D-1
tournament, upended top-ranked Harriton 33-30 in the final. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Octorara's big guns are two seniors: 135-pounder Jason Smith (15-0) and
160-pounder Jim Softchin (16-2). Smith is a two-time state medalist who
recently signed a letter of intent to wrestle at Rider University. Both he and
Softchin reached the 100-career victory plateau earlier this season. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Tonight's Class 3A winner will meet District 7's Connellsville (17-5) at 7
p.m. Friday at Hersheypark Arena, where the rest of the state tournament will
be held. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The 2A winner will face D-7's Shady Side Academy (12-7) at 5 p.m. Friday.
Semifinals and finals will be held Saturday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
