Kids need some place to go. Our hang out from 1943 to around 1950 was
Charlie's ice cream parlor in Exeter on Main Street - or is it Wyoming Avenue
today? I think the building now is a paint store. Maybe it was at Main and
Orchard streets. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Anyway in those days, we had to be home by the time the second gong blew at
the fire hall - that was 9 p.m. If I didn't get home by then, I couldn't go
the next night. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; We danced on a 10 cent cherry coke or an ice cream soda if we had enough
money. But we were more interested in dancing and talking and just having fun. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 My boyfriend, now my husband, didn't like to dance. He used to stand there
and I'd jitterbug. Fun is the name of the game. If kids aren't having fun they
turn to sex or drugs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Those were the days. Most of us were carefree. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wake up, towns of Pennsylvania. Do something so kids can get out of their
bedrooms away from TV. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
