The ACLU was founded in 1920 by Roger Baldwin. He stated "The ACLU is a
private organization. ... And a private organization is like a church. You
don't take nonbelievers into the church. We are a church; we have a creed and
only true believers should lead us." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 With this being said, you would think that the ACLU would respect the
rights of other organizations who wish to adhere to a "creed." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Boy Scouts have been attacked by the ACLU on numerous occasions. This
is because the Scouts have an oath and a law. The leaders of the Scouts
consider homosexuality to be a violation of their oath and atheism to be a
violation of their law. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The City of San Diego used to lease a portion of a large park to the Boy
Scouts. The ACLU sued the city on behalf of a lesbian couple and an agnostic
couple. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The city council was told by the ACLU that they could no longer do business
with the Boy Scouts because of their discriminatory beliefs. The council
caved, the Boy Scouts were kicked out of the park, and the ACLU was awarded
$950,000 of taxpayer money. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 When the subject of separation of church and state comes up, the first
"church" that this country needs to separate itself from is the First Church
of Roger Baldwin. After that has been accomplished, perhaps other
organizations will be able to contribute to society in the way that their
founders intended. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
