Journalism students from Wyoming Valley West High School recently attended the Journalism Education Association Convention in Philadelphia where they received awards for the high school&rsquo;s publications. All publications were judged on written composition, layout, photography, coverage and creativity. The 2007 issues of the high school&rsquo;s newspaper, The West Side Story, earned a gold rating in the National Scholastic Press Association&rsquo;s critique and a first-class rating in the Pennsylvania School Press Association critique. Interim, the high school&rsquo;s literary arts magazine, earned a silver rating in the National Scholastic Press Association&rsquo;s critique and a first-class rating in the Pennsylvania School Press Association critique. The 2007 Spartan yearbook earned a first-class rating in the Pennsylvania School Press Association critique. Leslie Nicholas is the journalism teacher and student publications adviser.
