First Posted: 1/24/2014 WILKES-BARRE &#8212; King&#8217;s College students will soon have the opportunity to earn a master&#8217;s degree in business from the University of Notre Dame while remaining in the area.
The college said Friday students will be guaranteed admission to participate in master&#8217;s degree programs in Notre Dame&#8217;s Mendoza College of Business. Students will be able to participate in the school&#8217;s Master of Science in Business or Master of Science in Accountancy programs.
A maximum of two King&#8217;s students per program per academic year will be granted admission. Eligible students include those who earn a bachelor&#8217;s degree from King&#8217;s and maintain a required grade point average and Graduate Management Admissions Test score.
Students will be able to participate in the programs starting in the 2014-15 academic year. King&#8217;s College is the only college in the country with the agreement with Notre Dame.
&#8220;King&#8217;s is very excited to offer these graduate degree cooperative programs with our Holy Cross Congregation &#8216;sister&#8217; school, the University of Notre Dame,&#8221; said Father John Ryan, C.S.C., King&#8217;s president, in a news release. &#8220;The College&#8217;s ability to partner with the prestigious Mendoza College of Business provides King&#8217;s students from a wide variety of majors a wonderful opportunity to combine their bachelor&#8217;s degree with concentrated studies in business to accelerate their professional and personal development. An added bonus is that the University of Notre Dame curriculum mirrors the emphasis on ethical behavior established at King&#8217;s.&#8221;
This is not the first time King&#8217;s College has had an agreement with Note Dame. The two colleges introduced a dual bachelor&#8217;s degree program in engineering for first-year students who entered King&#8217;s College in 2013. The program more than doubled the goal for student participants.
