First Posted: 9/22/2014 Berwick (7-8) won two of three singles matches and nabbed No. 1 doubles to slip past GAR, 3-2, in a high school girls tennis match on Monday.
Lynndath Thelamaque won No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-2.
Wyoming Seminary 5, Pittston Area 0
Madison Nardone topped Elaina Menichelli 6-2, 6-4 in No. 1 singles to lead the Blue Knights to a win.
The team of Abby Capin and Megha Sarada won No. 1 doubles 6-0, 6-1.
Dallas 4, Hanover 1
Grace Schaub won her No. 1 singles match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 in a Mountaineers victory.
In No. 1 singles, the Dallas team of Maddy Ross and Caitlyn Landau won 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).
Holy Redeemer 5, Coughlin 0
The Royals were able to sweep all singles and doubles matchups, surrendering only one set to the Crusaders. Holy Redeemer finished their season off a perfect, 13-0 and is now the Wyoming Valley Conference AA Champions.
MMI Prep 4, Wyoming Valley West 1
The Preppers took two of three singles matches and both doubles matchups as they defeated the Trojans, 4-1. Emily Coslett won the only singles match of the night for Wyoming Valley West.
H.S. Boys Cross Country
Hazleton was able to pick up three wins during a cluster meet at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre. Klynt Jones finished with a time of 18:30 leading the Cougars.
Holy Redeemer and Crestwood were able to pick up two wins, while Meyers and Hanover each grabbed one win each.
H.S. Girls Cross Country
Holy Redeemer grabbed three wins, including one sweep, over their opponents during a cluster meet at Kirby Park. Olivia Gregorio finished second overall with a time of 20:48 leading the Royals.
Hazleton, Crestwood and MMI Prep all picked up one win during the same meet.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Hazleton Area 3, Wyoming Area 1
Winning by scores of 25-12, 25-13, 21-25, 25-9, the Cougars were paced by a 10-kill, seven-aces performance by Alivia Roberts. Sam Ayers added 18 assists for the winners, while Maggie Bono added 18 digs.
For the Warriors, Mikayla Klimas had four kills and Rachael Solano contributed six assists and three points.
GAR 3, Coughlin 1
Khira Cook recorded 32 service points, two kills, four aces and five digs to lead GAR to a 25-12, 14-25, 25-9, 25-10 to top Coughlin. Banessa Flores chipped in with six kills, 19 assists, three aces and seven digs.
For Coughlin, Walkiria Perez finished with eight digs, two kills, one assist, eight aces and 13 service points and Nat Bourdeau had two digs, two kills, seven assists and six service points.
Lake-Lehman 3, Pittston Area 1
Danae Sutliff&#8217;s 17 kills, seven aces, 20 digs and eight service points led the charge in the Black Knight&#8217;s 25-14, 25-16, 22-25, 25-18 win.
Elana Herceg finished with 25 assists, one ace, three digs and seven service points, while teammate Lexi Oplinger chipped in with five kills, 13 digs, three aces and 10 service points.
North Pocono 3, Tunkhannock 1
Chloe Pehanick finished with three kills and one block in North Pocono&#8217;s win. Match scores were 25-15, 19-25, 25-14, 25-16.
Maddie Hughes finished with five service points, while Cierra Fantini had 26 service points and 11 aces. Tunkhannock&#8217;s Amanda Hardy had 12 kills and three blocks and Kaitlyn Mitchell finished with 12 service points and five aces. Kayla Dobrinski had 16 assists in the loss.

Wyoming Seminary 2, Nanticoke 0
Maya Kornfeld put the Blue Knights on the board first and Abby Straub sealed the win over Nanticoke.
Kate Romanoski assisted on both goals.
Honesdale 2, Northwest 0
After a scoreless first half, Honesdale scored two goals in the second half to nab a win over Northwest on Saturday.
Clarye Smith scored the first goal, assisted by Gabby Gardis. Smith assisted on the second goal scored by Ally Meyer.
GAR 1, Meyers 0
Brea Seabrook scored the lone goal with 18:41 remaining and goalie Brittany Ridel stopped three shots to rally the Grenadiers.
Dallas 5, Abington Heights 0
Calli Amadio scored a pair of goals and Kami McGee registered a goal and an assist to spark the Mountaineers to victory.
Morgan Morris tossed in two assists in the win, while the Dallas defense limited the Comets to a single shot.
Lackawanna Trail 7, Hanover 0
Jordan Lytos finished with a goal and assisted on two others in Trail&#8217;s win over Hanover.
Teammate Kasey Buck finished with a goal and two assists.
