Brownies who participated include Kristy Hozempa, April Masters, Kelly Spencer, Lisa Gunn, Betty Spencer, Erica Conrad, Kristy Maskalis, Beth Turner, Gina Traver, Diane Alters, Karen Komsisky, Lynn Turner, Amy Groboski, Kelly Komsisky, Beth Kelly and Amy Rodgers.A unique event took place at Frances Slocum State Park last weekend. The Penn Mountains Council of the Boy Scouts held their Diamond jubilee Camporall with almost 100 Scouts and Scouters participating in the three days of fun, friendship and competition. The competitions tested compass skills, a lifesaving technique, knot tying, canoeing, tree identification and other skills. First place overall was earned by the Kodiak Patrol pf Troop 232, Gate of heaven Church, Dallas. Scouts who competed for Troop 232 include John Mitchell, Michael Dzanko, Nathan Kelley, Ronald Fitch, Alan Landis, John Kristan, Jim Fry, Sam Wilkes, Walter Fry, Shane Williams and Chris Kuhar. 40 years ago - 1975Mrs. Nancy Goeringer and Mrs. Laura Poddo of the Home Economics Department have created and implemented a new course in Dallas Senior High School curriculum entitles, &#8220;Child Care and Development.&#8221; The third phase of the program involved the study of the intellectual, physical and social development of the child from infant to six years of age. Children participating in Child Care are: George Ladamus, Max Derby, Jeff Miller, Jennifer Hale, Jeff banks, Kristin Cragle, Julanne Johnson, Mark Buss, &#8220;D.J.&#8221; Hopkins, Margie Prynn, Kristen Preece, Stephanie Kolman, Joy Bearley and Michelle Traver.Two Dallas athletes copped two of the nine medals won by the Wyoming Valley Track and Field Conference last weekend in state-wide competition at Penn State. Ann Barnes and Patti Larson played a piano duet and Donna Priele, Patti and Ann sang a duet.60 yearsaAgo - 1955Lewis Jones, Harveys Lake, a patient in Nesbitt Hospital for six days while recovering from cracked ribs and widespread contusions, returned to his home last Thursday, and expects to be back at work at the Jones construction Company next week. He was injured when he fell eight feet while laying a floor at a new piece of home construction in Idetown.Five Back Mountain students were among the forty who received keys and certificates for outstanding work on the Opinator, school weekly magazine, and the 1955 Wyoming at Wyoming Seminary. They were: Jack Gurgles, West Dallas, Ben Jones III, Shrine view, Walter French, Dallas, Charlotte Perkins, Trucksville, and Robert Van Horn, Dallas.70 years ago - 1945For the second time within two weeks, Lehman High School Senior Band, the Chorus, Majorettes and twirlers, all under the direction of Santee I. Range, thrilled a large and appreciative audience at Lehman High School auditorium last night when it appeared in a benefit concert for Lehman Township Volunteer Fire Company. Funds raised will go toward the maintenance of the newly formed company and toward a fire house fund. Senior twirlers who participated in the performance are: June Graham, June Swan, Mary Crossen and Mildred Disque.Lehman Schools recently crowned Betty Lewis as May Queen. Court members are: Catherine Lukasavage, Ruth Newhart, Lila Parry, Ruth Gable and June Swan. The May Queen and her Court were selected by the vote of the entire student body after the senior class had selected six girls as candidates for May Queen. The students voted on the following seven points in making their choice: personality, worthwhile contributions to the school, co-operation, ideals, worthy school citizenship, ability and accomplishments and all around developments and participation.Blue Star Bible Class of St. Paul&#8217;s Lutheran Church, Shavertown, had its second annual May Breakfast Sunday morning at Adamchick&#8217;s pine grove at Lehman.
