LUZERNE &amp;ndash; Council approved the borough&amp;rsquo;s 2009 budget Tuesday with no tax increase.
Council President Michael Jancuska said the budget totals $720,146. All employees will be retained, Jancuska said.
Joining Jancuska in voting for the package were council members Tony Perzia, Joseph Lyons, Gerry Storz, Judy Gober and Mary Ellen Schell. Paul Fronzoni was absent. Mayor James Keller attended the meeting.
Jancuska said council reviewed the budget and decided to make some minor revisions. He said council did plan to install security cameras in borough parks and municipal buildings, but did not put that cost in the budget.
&amp;ldquo;We decided to apply for grant money to get the security system,&amp;rdquo; Jancuska said after the meeting.
The borough employs two full-time street department employees and two full-time office people. Jancuska said the borough contracts police protection with Swoyersville Borough.
Jancuska said the borough is at its taxing limit and decided to try to curtail spending rather than dip into the borough&amp;rsquo;s reserve funds.
