Reading council members host event

<p>The Luzerne Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual barbecue 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at the fire department, 66 Tener St., Luzerne. Cost is $8.50. Eat in or take out. The meal includes half chicken, baked potato, corn on the cob and a roll. Dine-in service includes beverage and dessert. Advance tickets can be purchased from department members, by calling the fire department at 570-287-7006 and leaving a message, or by contacting Ron Rahl at 570-288-2249. Advance ticket purchases are recommended. A limited number of tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the barbecue.
