JACKSON TWP. &#8212; The Jackson Township Board of Supervisors discussed an agenda filled with new plans and motions to help improve the township at its monthly meeting Monday.The board passed motions for two new grants to aid the township with upkeep and infrastructure maintenance &#8211; a $400,000 LSA Gaming Grant for the Back Mountain Community Partnership as well as a $15,000 grant from the Luzerne Conservation District.The LSA Gaming Grant will be used to purchase and maintain vehicles for leaf collection and vacuuming and will be split among Back Mountain Community Partnership municipalities and regions. The Luzerne Conservation Grant will go toward the upkeep of dirt and gravel roads, in particular Kasko and Pinetree Road, in the township.In addition to the grants, the board also made a public announcement in reference to the county-wide Gypsy Moth Spraying Cost-Sharing Initiative.&#8220;As a reminder to our residents, the deadline to place an application for the 2016 moth program is Aug. 14,&#8221; said Chairman John J. Wilkes, Jr.Citizens are encouraged to contact Program Coordinator Keri Skvarla at 570-820-6347 as soon as possible. The cost estimate for participation, based on the 2014 rates, is about $26 per acre.The next Jackson Township Board of Supervisors meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the municipal building, a date and time different from regularly scheduled meetings.<div class="metaInfo"><bylineMeta>By Rachel R.
